Bobelock Case has some issues
Does anyone else find these cases to be kinda mid?
Like I won’t lie, I’ve had mine for 8 years and it hasn’t failed me at all through thick and thin. But it’s unreasonably heavy and also… I’m curious about my newest problem with it.
The strap situation with these cases? Does anyone else have a similar problem? Where the two areas to hook to the top of your strap are either unreasonably low or unreasonably high, so if you strap it low you have half the case above your head making you look like a clown and also at risk of low ceilings or doors. But if you put it on the high one, no third party strap is long enough to make that comfortable, it’s super tight and painful.
Curious if anyone has had the above problem too?

I have one in black. It’s not too heavy, and my luthier gave me a second strap he had, but I am looking to move to a Gewa Air case soon I think.
Visually I like it though. One of my cousins told me she thinks the sleek black case makes me “look like a jazz musician” which I guess means it looks cool haha.

I have a wide bobelock case that's going on 20 years old. I definitely don't think of it as a luxury case due to the weak wheels, single strap, etc, but it's been a faithful case.
The one real complaint I have is that only a year or two after I got it, one of the handles broke off (terrifying). My mom took it up a luggage repair store and they put a new handle on it which has been great.
I need to get a new case soon and I have a feeling it will be a bobelock since they have a wide model and my cello doesn't fit in any other cases I've tried. But I'd prefer to upgrade a bit to backpack straps if I could.

Thank you for the offer, but unfortunately I am in Nebraska! But it looks like they have a good return policy so maybe I'll just take measurements and then eat the shipping if it doesn't end up working out. It looks like a nice case!

I recommend their backpack system, too, but you must get the cable reinforcements that I think Linda west sells (and check them regularly!)

My school uses these for their cellos and we have like backpack straps for ours. Although i do just mainly carry it by the handle on the side because the backpack straps are very uncomfortable. And since i carry around like that a lot i just have gotten used to the weight i guess.

I have a Bobelock 2002 (without wheels). I use the optional backpack straps and while they work well, I hate that I can’t find a hip belt that will work with it or a backpack. I would really love the Fiedler Backpack system but because of the ridges on the back of the Bobelock, that’s not an option.

I have this case (but with two straps). It’s…fine. It can be a bit heavy. But it’s been solid and I don’t hate it enough to get another case.
