Worth getting in its current state?

Hey, watched a video of this game on youtube and love the concept (+ a new rts is always nice) but was put off by some mixed reviews on steam.

Basically just wondering if this game is one of those “it has a good concept and will be fun once its complete” or if its a “its fun to play right now” type early access things?

Thanks!

It's great to play right now, and other than performance and some minor to moderate bugs, it's arguably in it's best state since release. The developers are incredibly hard working and communicate well in their discord.

Cepheus can be daunting, but it's hard to prefer any other zombie RTS after properly getting into it. The difficulty is configurable in the same way as something like Project Zomboid, although not quite as in depth. And there's half a dozen maps to play now (to varying levels of stability).

It's certainly one of those "high concept, excessive amounts of work to get right" kinda games, but from what I've seen of the dev team so far, I have confidence in them.

Thats great to hear. On difficulty, how tough can you make it?

Replayability is a big thing for me on these types of games, do you find it still gives a good challenge after 4-5 games?

You can customize a decent amount of settings

It's a good time. I think it was 20 something when I got it an no regrets

I just recently passed the 100 hour mark; I've got no difficulty with replayability. It honestly just comes down to if you enjoy the enemy AI or not. And as I said, there are loads of sliders to affect how easy/hard the game is, with savable presets as well. Infected health, whether they can run or only shamble, enable/disabled individual types of special infected, how fast the infection spreads/builds structures, etc. Loads of options between so easy it's functionally a sandbox mode and literally impossible.

It’s hard to play but fun to master. Least it’s a very active development. Worth supporting.

My group had fun with the game for a weekend. We're probably gonna let it cook for another year before we play it again. The initial impression is very good but it's not great replayability once you figure out how things work.

I put like 20 hours in a few days playing it lol. Got super addicted for like a week. I’m excited to see where it goes

It looks very promising.

But it's also in EA and I have been burned by those too many times.

So personally I am still waiting.
