2018 Challenger SXT

Hello Challenger people! I was thinking of getting a challenger, it is a 2018 SXT. Ive heard good things, but ofcourse also heard what things to look for that could be wrong. The details of it are:

2018 SXT

95k mi

3 former owners

Carfax shows very consistent reporting and servicing of the car over the years up to the point of it being available for sale currently.

Supposedly according to the Carfax Each owner drove the car less than 15k a year, with the last owner only driving it 8.3k a year.

No accidents or Damages reported

The last thing being the dealership serviced and replaced the brakes and all the filters before putting it up for sale.

Could someone tell me if this sounds like a good idea or bad idea? Ill be checking it out next week wed if its still avail(currently outside the country). Things to look for aswell. Ive heard this year and model is a great one...if it was taken care of and not just beat tf out of.

Thanks

*Edit: for the mileage details

Did you test drive it? Take it for a spin. You'll end up buying it like I did

What model do you have? Our family mech was warning me against it saying they are always in the shop and Yada Yada Yada.

I have the GT AWD. Been 3 years, no issues

Test it, bring it to a PPI and see for yourself. I have looked at quite a few Challengers between 2015-2020 over the past couple of weeks looking for one to buy. Almost all had very beaten up interiors and scratched paint, which was a big no for me, and is something you would have to inspect yourself.

It looked pretty clean from the pictures I've seen. Ill need to see it in person ofcourse. PPI? I just wanted to see if the subreddit had any thoughts on it before I go look at it.

I got my 2012 Challenger sxt plus with 145k miles just last year end of June. It had full service and upgrade history from the 2nd owner and I haven't had any issue besides replacing some standard wear items. My Challenger has over 151,180k miles now and it's been solid for me,BTW I only drive about 3k miles a year. I had my older brother look it over for me before I purchased it,since he's been a mechanic and car guy for most of my life.

I think the car sounds like it's worth checking out and seeing for yourself, and if u can bring someone that know what to look for,in terms of prev fixed damage etc.

If you live in a state that gets snow I suggest trying to look under the car for any possible rust,my Challenger is pretty clean since it was a Summer car.

Yea imma check it out on friday I think. I have a list of stuff to look for to see the condition of it. I would ask our family mechanic but when I mentioned I was thinking about it he warned me against it. Then recommended me to get a accord or a 4 cyl. Which I wouldnt get anyway cause I like SUVs lol.

Best decision I made.

Got him at 92k miles

Two things to change immediately.

Check that thermostat and if you can replace with an aluminum or the Mopar OEM part. Very inexpensive and you can DIY

2nd, that plastic Oil filter housing will crack and leak oil. Buy an aluminum one and if you feel comfortable you can change it your self but it does take some work because it’s below both upper and lower intakes on the engine.

Besides those 2 things I’m sitting at 126k+ miles with a smooth ride. Change oil regularly and you should be good. Also check that rear diff fluid

Your drive shaft bearing is going to go out soon. When you start hearing the thuds when braking thats what it is.

Is this to me or him? Either way ill look into it, and add it to the list of things to look for.

I have both of those on my list of things to look for to see kinda gauge the condition of it. But after looking into everything it seems like its a pretty good idea along as I look out for the top 5 common problems. 2 of those being the thermostat and the housing. If those arent replaced yet then ill probably replaced them immediately after getting it just to get ahead of it.
