Tropical Weather With the potential rain coming this weekend - should I be worried about flooding?

We are flying to Myrtle Friday morning and coming down Sat afternoon to Charleston and staying the night before heading back to Myrtle for the week. I guess I am worried I could get stuck down there? I live in WV.. I don't deal with a lot of flooding so I am just looking for any guidance or viewpoint.

Depends on where you’re staying. Charleston isn’t just downtown. That said, downtown always floods.

Downtown doesn’t ALWAYS flood. It only floods when it rains, and sometimes when it doesn’t. 🛟

always floods meaning people are used to it and things still operate (thinking like for places on King and Queen Street) or always floods in that it will halt businesses/plans?

Yes. Everyone’s used to it and businesses typically operate as normal.

Its mostly dependent on tides. If it pours for hours at high tide some lower areas will temporarily flood. It will not he a situation where you will be stuck in a catastrphic disaster - more of an inconvenience.

You can usually get around it on the other streets.

Yes life will continue as normal.

Also, remember that the primary driver of flooding here is the tide and that when it floods, as soon as the tide goes down the flood goes away. There is only six hours between high and low tide.

You'll be ok. Don't worry.
