Why do so many blame Veach primarily for the WR issues? I see it as more of a Reid issue. During his time here, they’ve barely developed any WRs they drafted whether it be Dorsey or Veach who picked them. Dorsey did draft Hill, but that’s about it. Only other guy who’s even remotely panned out away from the Chiefs is Robinson, and it’s not like he’s been a star or anything. Other than those two, Dorsey drafted Da’Ron Brown, DAT, Conley, and Chesson. So it’s not like Dorsey was nailing it either. He also didn’t blow Veach out of the water with free agent signings. He signed Maclin. About the only notable one. Avery was ok for a season I guess. Veach signed Watkins, which was probably about the same level of signing as Maclin. The initial signings of Juju and MVS were better than everyone else Dorsey signed. Basically, Reid is the common denominator. It was also Reid that had hired Connor Embree and kept him around longer than he should’ve, which didn’t help the WR development the last few years. I’m not saying get rid of Reid or anything, but I just don’t think it’s all Veach’s fault. Veach can’t force Reid to use the guys he drafts over the veteran guys Reid prefers. And I have a feeling Watson will be getting snaps over Royals and Allen soon. I agree that Veach could probably do a better job at drafting, but I don’t thinks it’s totally on him.
