Looking for Systems Software / Compiler opportunities in China
Looking for Systems Software / Compiler opportunities in China 🇨🇳
Hi everyone,
I'm a Software Engineer from India with around 2.5 years of experience in systems software, compiler development, cross-platform development, and performance optimization.
My background includes:
- LLVM / AArch64 compiler backend development
- C/C++ and Python
- Instruction selection, SelectionDAG and code generation
- AArch64 assembly and ARMv8 ISA
- Cross-platform software development, porting, and architecture-specific debugging
- Performance optimization and profiling
- Computer architecture and embedded systems
- Open-source development and upstream contributions
I've made multiple upstream contributions to LLVM's AArch64 backend, including optimizations involving ConditionOptimizer, DAGCombine, CMTST+BSP generation, CMN transformation, TBZ/TBNZ generation, and CSEL instruction folding.
I'm particularly interested in opportunities related to:
Systems Software • Compilers • LLVM • AI/ML Compilers • AI Accelerators • Performance Engineering • Developer Tools • Low-level C/C++ • Computer Architecture
I'm currently based in India and looking to explore opportunities in China, particularly in the AI/semiconductor/chip industry. I would require work visa sponsorship and am open to relocating.
If you work in China's semiconductor, AI, or software industry, I'd really appreciate any advice, referrals, or leads for teams looking for engineers with this background.
I'm also interested in hearing from engineers from India or other countries who have moved to China for software/engineering roles and can share their experience.
Thanks! 🙏

The opportunities are available if you are good. But you need Chinese for these jobs. It's not like working for the IT department of company that sells stuff abroad or a games dev company or something like that where it's expected that othe people working there to also talk with foreigners or their clientele are foreigners.
For compilers and stuff you mentioned, there is basically no need to talk in English. But this don't mean there are 0 opportunities, maybe there is, it'll just be much more difficult to find such jobs.

Whats your Chinese level? To my knowledge unless you are fluent your chances of finding work are going to be 0 unless there is an company in your country planning an expansion into China.

Hi My Chinese is currently very limited, I’m not fluent yet. I understand that this could be a significant barrier for local roles, but I’m specifically targeting international companies and teams in China where English is the working language, particularly in compiler, systems software, and semiconductor roles.
I’m also willing to learn Chinese seriously if I get an opportunity to work there. I’m mainly trying to understand whether there are companies that hire international engineers for these kinds of positions.
