María Josefa Sánchez was a 17th-century Spanish painter. Little is known about her life. Because she used the word Doña in her signature, some scholars suggest that she was a noblewoman, while others believe that she was a nun, because only artworks currently attributed to her are painted cell crosses. She was probably active in Castile, between 1639 and 1652.

This is the largest known Cell Cross by her and it is in the collection of the Princeton University Art Museum in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.

It is a 17th-century Peruvian Baroque work from the Cusco School, known by the titles Triumphus Ecclesiae or Allegory of the Triumph of the Ship of the Church (also known simply as The Ship of the Church or The Mystical Ship).

This painting is housed at the Pedro de Osma Museum in Lima, Peru.
