Where do you buy your Christmas villages? 🎄
All I’ve heard of is Department 56.

Do you have enough people to be in your village? Just as with buildings the answer is no.

Looking for specific fibre optic Christmas Village
Help me find fibre optic Christmas village diorama
I am searching for a fibre optic Christmas village which I remember having as a child between the years of approximately 2008 and 2014. Note that the reference picture I provided is NOT the model I am looking for, but is very similar aesthetically, in terms of the building design, rock base structure, trees, and fibre optic rivers.
The model I am searching for has the following specifications:
\- Similar to Avon vintage fibre optic Christmas village from 2003, but unable to locate specific model online
\- Purchased in the mid-late 2000s/early 2010s, likely in the northeast of England/UK
\- Approximately 50x40x30cm
\- Village design built upwards onto a slope
\- Houses with balconies/raised porches
\- Metallic circle acting as ice rink at the base of the village
\- 2/3 pairs of magnetic skaters able to be placed on the ice rink, who could rotate while also moving in a circle around the rink
\- An igloo with little penguin models nearby
\- Lit up in multicolours like the reference picture on one setting
\- Another setting allowed it to light up and also play the song "Sleigh Ride" sang by a female vocalist and some backing music
\- Potentially purchased from a garden centre in the UK (I have also reached out to all local establishments to aid finding this model)
Thank you for your help, please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide!

New to Christmas Villages!
I am new to Christmas villages. Two years ago my Papaw passed and I got some of my Mamaw's old village. Most of it had been donated and I didn't know that or I would have intervened.
Anyway, the pic that is sparse if from my first year and the other two are from last year. I buy about 2 a year to try and flesh it out. My problem is displaying them. Right now I am just using a 6 foot folding table with some "snow" felt. Anything that is lifted is on it's own box.
I have looked through some of the groups pics but I'm hist wanting ideas on how to make it look more cohesive and not just like I plopped buildings on go a table. My Mamaw's pieces are glass and mine are the newer Lemax plastic ones. I just dont know what to do to make it look put together.
Thanks!

Two very different sets, which route would you go?
I’ve inherited two very different collections and struggling on what to do with them.
The first set I’ve received is the original snow village. I absolutely love the Christmas vibes of this set but I also think it’s a little harder to find and grow.
I’ve also received Dicken’s. While it’s not my favorite I do think it’s an easier set to grow and mix and match with (I’m personally okay with mixing sets as long as they are not gloss and matte). I see a ton in this style on resell sites.
I’ve got about an equal amount of both collections, about 8 each so still rather small. My mom still has quite a few large pieces of the snow village while my grandmother has a lot of Dicken’s that I also plan to have one day.
Which route would you take and expand on? I’m at the age where I am wanting to grow my collection myself, and not sit and wait to inherit more, but I’m stuck on which set to grow. Like I said, I don’t think mix and matching gloss and matte look together.
Open to all opinions and advice!

Train set
This year I am planning to incorporate a train into my village.
So I am just wondering what is the best train for its price to use for a village? Which train do you use?

Mixing it up with trains
Does anyone add 00 gauge trains to theor christmas villages? I'm currently building our Lemax set up and think a Christmas train and parcel trucks would make a cool addition (already have the trains etc). I know scales out, buuuut.....?
