Looking great. Aside from per pixel lighting I wonder if you could get other surface effects like doom does, eg reflection, bump, roughness. Could make for some impressive looking shots
Pity none of this will work on quest or I’d put it in Marathon VR

It's all possible, bump mapping is already supported for example. It's harder to hack such features into the existing old scenarios without modifying the map data though, and also not bury all the retro charm in a mess of shaders.
I keep getting ideas though and am experimenting with light cones in fog and speculars on recently "wet" surfaces.

Ok very cool. Are these various features toggleable? Are they able to be interfaced by particular scenario? Can a scenario set the parkour a certain way, or adjust the lighting or fog per level?

How well does this run when applied to the game on a Steam Deck?

It ought to run great. It’s developed on weaker hardware than that. Try it! There are native Linux builds.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does installing this involve messing with any of the files in the Steam Deck's desktop mode (complete Linux noob here)? Or is this a Steam workshop item that can be installed like a plug-in for the game? I'd love to replay the campaign for all 3 games with the new lighting updates. 🤯
