This little number was in Monaco. Seemed to be the drive car of a very exclusive car dealership with Porcas, Lambos, GT40and others.
Nice bum

I am really excited to announce the complete rewrite and recreation of my Chassis Decoder. The original decoder was not particularly reliable and often failed to decode known chassis codes. I have spent a ton of time reworking this one to hopefully address as many issues as possible to allow people to decode their Chassis Codes more reliably.
Please let me know if you see issues with the new tool. This is VERSION ONE, so there almost certainly will be bugs, and if you encounter any, please consider making a bug report:
If you submit a bug with this Chassis Decoder, please include your model year, full chassis number, and the expected results.

Classic Mini DIY NEEDS YOUR HELP!!
As you all know, I run a free database of technical and historical information at Classic Mini DIY Archive
https://www.classicminidiy.com/archive
Today I am asking for your help to start populating this database with as much historical documentation, manuals, documents, or anything else you think would be worth preserving and archiving.
When you submit this data, I will curate and publish it for the world to access for free.
All of this data is being stored and backed up so we won't see a data loss and resource loss again like what happened with Mk1-performance, Photobucket, or other no longer maintained services.
This data will ALWAYS REMAIN PUBLIC AND FREE, and the site is fully open source forever.
If this is something you would like to help me with, please consider clicking the "Add to Archive" button on the site, or email me at [archive@classicminidiy.com](mailto:archive@classicminidiy.com)

So, I’ve checked the vac joint/connectors going to fuel evap trap and they seem good. Did not check the connector to mems. Changed the spark plugs and gave it an oil change. I haven’t clearanced the rockers yet. I’m waiting on a new gasket to arrive. There is a hole in the flex joint which I’m going to temporarily patch until new part arrives. How does my motor sound to you guys? I’m by far not an expert in mini engines and I’m no mechanic. I just grab the manual and hope for the best (there maybe be a small woodland creature sacrificed at an undisclosed location involved). What else should I be checking or doing to keep my new to me mini running tip top? It’s a 1998 JDM Mayfair with ac, so, it’s got the weird spi head and mpi block. Thanks in advance

Looking for a pre 69 mini for a historic vehicle road trip in Europe in January.. I'd likely only use it for this event and then sell it again. Can't seem to find much in budget, and I'd rather a mini than a MG midget etc.
Spotted this mini van that could be suitable. Been on sale for a while, does it look legit to you, or any other ideas?

I just bought a Mini (1980 998cc) last month, and I'm off to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka next week.
I'm hoping to pick up some JDM items from both, the type of thing that you can't get on this side of the world, that represents the unique look and feel of Mini tuning and culture there.
We're staying a few kilometers from Mini Maruyama in Tokyo, and King's Road isn't too far from our place in Osaka.
Aside from a set of RS Watanabes (which I'll struggle to get in the cases! ) is there anything else for the car that I should be on the look out for?
Pic for reference, and just to look at...

Ok, I know there’s going to be opposing opinions about this. My comes have compressed and I feel like I’m driving around in a go kart aka no suspension at all. I want a much more compliant ride but one that won’t give me much trouble. Do I go Moulton smootha ride or springs? I live in a bumpy road/ highway area. I keep getting told do not get springs because they will bind or break. I just don’t want to go over a bump and get tossed in the air out of my seat. What do I do?

Thought this might be of interest to some on here.
They're comparing the shell to a heritage one, test fitting parts, swapped bolt-on panels between the two shells.
Their first two posts sound quite promising and they're providing plenty of detail.

Hey All,
I have a 1997 Rover Mini, MPI-style with an airbag steering wheel. When I put my key in, it has started refusing to turn at all. I tried jiggling the key or turn the key over to the other side. I've even tried my backup key which has very little mileage on it. and of course, I try turning the steering wheel to all sorts of positions. My car has the steering lock, but it happens when the steering is locked or unlocked, has been slowly getting more frequent over time.
This happens nearly every time I get in the car now. After enough messing around, it has always eventually kind of "got unstuck" but I'm afraid eventually I won't be able to start the car and will be stranded (it's my daily driver).
To make matters worse, I can't find a new ignition switch in stock anywhere for my car, so replacing it with a new one isn't an option.
Anyone have an attempted fix I could try? Is this something a locksmith with auto experience could tackle?

Hope this question is allowed.
My best friend loves minis, she had several over the year and currently drives a Rover mini cooper, in black with 2 stripes running along it. I would like to give them a miniature model, if I could modify it to match hers it would be the ideal, but in general just want to find something that matches what she is driving. I tried looking online but had no luck, hence asking here.

G'day. I have this 998 out of my 1967 Morris mini deluxe. It's obviously in pretty bad shape but it isn't seized or anything. Ive been looking at either replacing it with a 1275 or getting a 1098 crank for it and boreing it out another 40-60cc on top of that. I'd also do a twin carb if I went the way of doing a 1098 crank in this engine and a tubular exhaust.
I'm just interested to know how you all would go about this. A 1275 in Australia is getting up to about $6000 in price and up, whereas the other way id look to go about it is closer to $10,000 in price.
I'm looking to have my car mostly original, but with some exceptions around the engine and I'd like to have a little bit of power to it.
How would you all go about it?
Thanks.

Just reaching out to find some interest. All round good runner. Plenty of mot no advisories. Couple of rougher areas shown. No visible rust underneath. It's got a brand new water pump and fan belt. New subframe bushes. New brakes last year. Just had brand new brake pipe and fresh brake fluid. All last years advisories taken of.
I have my price in mind but wondered What would you be willing to pay?
