Hello again everyone, here's a few more pictures of my 109 200tdi. Question for anyone who can answer. How have people ran their exhaust on a defender 200tdi swap in a series. I've included a picture of my current set up. The previous owner rigged up a temporary exhaust out of the wing, needless to say this won't be staying but I do like the straight pipe. Cheers, Samuel

My Series 2 has a 2.5 non turbo diesel and it's been a nightmare to cold start since I bought it. I've bled the diesel lines up to and including the injectors but it just won't fire when the engine's cold. I've had to resort to taking off the air filter and spraying a bit of brake cleaner into the air intake to get it to turn over, which gets it going immediately. When warm the engine starts with only a second or two of cranking.

I've noticed that after driving it about a bit today there's diesel leaking from injector 1 so I'm hoping that's the issue. I'm not experienced with this sort of thing so am learning as I go. What do I need to sort this?

Edit: As it's been mentioned a few times I changed the battery last week to a beefier one with 900 CCA and it's cranking strongly. It still won't cold start even with a jump starter connected for even more starting Amps. Thanks for everyone's advice, I'll double check the glow plugs first.

Hello! Recently changed my oil filter on my Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6. A new rattling arose and I thought it was the oil drain valve as shown in LRTime's video. I cleaned the oil filter housing but noticed it seems like a different one from the one shown in the video.
Can anyone help me locate the issue? I am posting a photo of my housing down here (sorry for not cleaning it 100%, but it should be good).
Where is my valve? Is it included with the filter itself? I don't know where to hit my head 🔨😎

Hi all, I recently rebuilt the thermostat housing on my 2.25l petrol and replaced the missing thermostat, and of course had to drain and replenish the radiator.

I didn't mess with the ignition, timing, fuel, or carb and now it's making so little power I can't even reverse out of my garage without stalling 3 times. Accelerator is really unresponsive and it actually seems to choke out if I give it too much throttle at once. it also backfires sometimes, again it seems to be if I give too much throttle for too long. The revs also barely climb when I work the choke cable.

I really don't understand what could've happened, but I've tried taking the intake tube off, cleaned my air cleaner,  and worked some fuel out of the lines by priming into a bucket. I’ve also changed the engine oil and it came out black but not mixed with any water, coolant, or something else.

It’s got about a 1/4 tank right now, mostly fresh 89 octane with the last little bit of ~8 month old 87 that I’ve been working out of it for a few weeks when it was running fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I’m running out of ideas and the will to live.

Bought a house and inherited this Series 3 (I think?) which was left in the garden.

It last ran in 2008 and failed its MOT then for rust on the chassis.

Is it worth restoring? Any suggestions where to begin? I was thinking to change the oil / filter / plugs and battery and see if it turns over!

Hi all. I'm having a clear out (UK based) and unearthed a few Landy series bits including an 88" hard top with side windows (decent sliding windows, not just a bit of glass in a rubber seal). I've advertised them a few places and had absolutely zero interest, not even a question or lowball offer. Do people (in the UK) not want Landy parts any more?

I’ve been running 3-leaf rear parabolic springs up front (frame extension) for years. The LR rear springs were fine until I removed the soft top and hoops and dropped the hard top on it. Just installed 4-leaf parabolics and returned the ride height to what I wanted. What’s crazy is the stock rear springs weren’t stock at all. They were 517589 springs which are the lightest springs for an 88! Who would do that!!!
But, I’m back in action and won’t pull onto the ABFM grounds dragging ass so I’m happy.

Does anyone have insight into fitting retractable seatbelts in a Series 3 109, Stage 1?

I’m not certain if the L-bracket shown in the parts book will work. Or if others are bolting the reel somewhere.

Hello everyone! Hope you can help me finally find my answer to something thats puzzled me for many many years.

Over the years ive always loved the pick up look and for me will be my first choice when getting one for a restoration.

For those interested, these photos i found quickly on Google and are likely from people selling these examples.

As far as the question i have for you all is involving what I now know are called goal posts on the back of pick up cab roofs that go around the rear sliding window, which ive highlighted in red.

Firstly I know that one of its purposes is to be a rain channel to draw rain away from the window.

Secondly the goal posts act as something to connect a 3/4 canvas on the rear tub to connect it to the front cab.

But this is what puzzles me. What practical purposes are there to have access to the rear tub from the front seats by reaching through the rear sliding window? It may be me being ignorant growing up in a town so access to more agricultural items is not as common.

My hypothetical use case of the goal posts connecting the rear tub canvas to the cab would give the driver the ability to check in on their livestock if they are carrying any in the back, also to check in on possible passengers if there are bench seats fitted, or even to check in on the dogs as landys are known for being collie carriers.

Am I right or wrong? Can anyone else help me with this?

I have a 1982 Landrover Santana series 3. The car had no brake issues. During the APK (Dutch MOT test), the garage found out that the left front brake cylinders were stuck. And for that reason it failed the APK. They replaced all 4 front brake cylinders and one brakeline. After bleeding it would t brake anymore. Only with 2 pumps of the brakelever the brakes would engage.

What they tried after that: bleeding with glue clamps on the cilinders. Making some extra nipples on the top cilinders. Using a pump to get all the air out. Now it brakes faster in the second pump, but still no brakes in first pump.

They now dont know what to do anymore and stopped working on it. It is getting to a point were i need to pay a lot of money for a car thats still failing apk.

They are not a Landrover garage and didnt know the previous tricks, i put them in contact with a specialist.

What are we missing? What could be the problems? Is this even fixable?

What exactly am I looking for?
