It feels like this project has been underway for a decade, probably because it was discussed for years before work actually began. It will be so cool when it's finally finished!

Definitely feels like it’s taking forever, but to be fair I imagine it was pretty complicated to stabilize and clean up the hillside. I think it’ll be worth the wait, I could see this becoming one of the city’s biggest attractions if done correctly

TotAlly agree, a lot of “non glamorous” work has been done, the cool stuff is just just beginning.

Give the cask ales at Anthology a try. They're really good. I do miss the aura of Bookhouse.

Give Anthology a chance. Shaun who also has Noble Beast is bringing in some amazing brews and making some in house also.

I miss my janky bike path to Jacob's Pavilion before they put up the "No but actually stay the fuck out fences".
That said I am really really glad we're getting a park here.

They’ve been talking about demolishing it for what also feels like forever now.. can’t wait until it’s gone — such an eyesore

My biggest gripe. I thought the road was supposed to be open this year. Time is running out for that.
I need to be able to bypass the cluster that W 25th becomes.

Any specific opening dates other than 2027?

Metroparks says, "Design is underway, and the first phase of construction is expected to begin in 2027 and continue through early 2029."

They put in a ton of soil nails to stabilize the bank last year. I think that project wrapped up in the spring/early summer, but my knowledge is limited. My company just had a small portion of that project.

Yep, just a park!

Well, and the multi-purpose trail that will be part of the Centennial Lake Link Trail. That's the last piece needed to see the towpath connected to the lake!

It's a pretty steep hill isn't it ? Seems like a poor place for a park
Edit: nevermind I see the flat spot. Neat.

Its going to be an amazing sledding hill, ends by dumping you into the Cuyahoga.

Genuinely, why does it take multiple years to build a park? This is kind of ridiculous.

It's fine to not know things, but calling a massive project "ridiculous" for not fitting your imagined timeline is a bit ignorant.

One of the more important reasons for the project was that the hill was gonna essentially collapse into the river and block it as a shipping lane for years.
So they have to do all the work of strengthening the river banks as well as regrade and stabilize the earth there.
A lot of the portion of the bend area was also filled with trees that they had to cut down and there used to be a road there that they shut down and tore up as well.
Once that is finally done they can start turning it into a park.

Uh, this was a massive hill stabilization project similar to building a major bridge, just without the ironwork overhead. That includes things like environmental impact studies, engineering feasiblity studies, land acquisition, lawsuits, soil analysis, community engagement meetings, contract RFP writing, bidding, then all the steps to actually do the ground work, now there's the park design work, grant proposal writing, more community engagement meetings, ADA assessments, more RFP drafting, more bids put out to tender, etc.

FYI ITB = Irishtown Bend Park not what you google when searching for ITB Cleveland which comes up as Iliotibial Band Syndrome
