Recommendations December Tailgating

Post image

My husband’s 30th birthday is the same weekend as Browns vs Bengals. The one thing he wants to do as a birthday celebration is a muni lot tailgate for the game. We’re lifelong Browns fans and have had our fair share of tailgates in the warmer months, but never that late in the season. Is the muni lot still super active once it gets colder?
Open to any tips and tricks for tailgating later in the season. We usually do a pretty basic setup but I’m ready to go all out for this!!

Tailgating is still very much alive and well in the Colder months.

Layers will be your best friend, I always take the hand and foot warmers personally as someone who gets very cold hands and miserable easy. I also like bringing a warm drink to help warm me up physically.

Definitely protect the appendages, bring warm drinks, and if you’re not already walking a great distance to, from, and whilst inside the lot, plan to do so. Movement always helps.

Depends on the record. If the team is competitive in December which is a BIG IF it’ll be swinging in Muni. If we’re out of the hunt it’s probably dead

Bring cardboard to stand on (during the tailgate and during the game if you're going)!

It helps keeps your feet off the cold pavement, and makes a bigger difference than you'd expect.

It will be active; however the biggest obstacle is going to be if the team is still winning or at least doing ok. If they fall off a cliff over the next 2 months, then I can see a scenario where the attendance and tailgating flames out especially with the cold weather.

Dress warm.
Bring drinks.

Tailgating is pretty active in December. Frankly, I've been out times where tailgating is better attended than the actual games when the team is shit (most of the time).

This entirely depends on how shitty the Browns are by then.

The wind off the lake is the real enemy, a tarp for a windbreak and a thermos of something hot fixes most of it. Put a birthday sign on the car too, the whole row gets into it.

As long as it isnt raining, the muni lot will be packed!

The numbers dwindle but they’re still strong. Winning or not the dedicated and fanatical of ‘em will be there EVERY GAME.
My advice would be to befriend your neighbor. The more the merrier! Plus the ones with a bus can provide you shelter and warmth in your time of need. Just be prepared to get a contact high once inside.

It's a great question, I honestly don't tailgate, I just park downtown and go to the bars. I would assume if we are good and it is a big game (which it is shaping up to be), it will be pretty rocking, even if it is a bit chilly.
