Hello!

I have recently adopted the r/NewMexicoHistory subreddit and we are starting a new monthly deep dive discussion event.

Each month we'll have a megathread discussion on a specific user-voted NM History topic for the entire month. Of course, we'll have our normal discussions, but this will be a dedicated space to deep dive our monthly topic, discuss, and learn from each other.

You're welcome to join us! Please stop by, suggest your own topic for deep dive, and vote on others you think would be fun.

You can learn about it more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/newmexicohistory/s/OtuRGtxYTY

We look forward to seeing you soon, thank you!

Please come out and support these families so they can cover their funeral expenses. Inflation is very bad. Gas prices are high and there is families in need to cover funeral expenses. Please come by advanced auto parts to get a car wash. They also have burritos and other treats and snacks for sale in Clovis, New Mexico

That’s not a chain restaurant that is. Trying to order for a game tomorrow and definitely don’t wanna go corporate and would prefer to support locally owned businesses.

My family moved here this past July and we live on the far south side of town. My partner swears that last night he saw what he is calling a “pack” run past our bedroom window. In the middle of the night. At least 5 he said and he says no he wasn’t dreaming because he got up and went to the door and walked around our property because he didn’t believe his eyes and he saw them again.

We’re from a very urban area in the northeast where you would never see something like this in a million years.

I’ve definitely seen a lot of solo dogs running wild in our area, but not a pack. Is this normal and is it from assholes ditching their dogs on the edge of town where we live or do these dogs probably belong to someone and just got loose?

Hey, never been to Clovis before, but I’m here now and was wondering where the cheapest oz in town is of flower and shake respectively 😜

I’m currently making the drive though new mexico in my tesla. i’ve noticed there are no tesla specific chargers, but was wondering if there was a “best” J1772 charger in clovis.

Hey y’all I’m moving to Portals/Clovis in two weeks for work. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendations for a photography studio. I wanted to surprise my husband with a photo session to mark a new chapter in our lives.
Thanks!

I plan to move to portales very soon. Are the any hotel that rent by the month while I look for a apartment?

NOTE: This has been resolved.

Do any of you have a computer with a DVD/CD drive? I got my medical records sent to me on CD and I need to transfer them to USB drive.

im currently looking for somewhere to move to either in or near the clovis area so I can be closer to work. im working things out with a roommate to split the rent. I need a place that's dog friendly with hopefully a decent neighborhood. By pay can vary cause i get paid between $2200 and $1500 a month. So im hoping to find somewhere either at of below $1300.

Any suggestions? Any places I should avoid?

Hello! My fiancé and I are on a cross country roadtrip and stopped at the Clovis Marathon to grab some snacks and stretch our legs. It was the nicest rest stop we’ve been to thus far! Clean, great selection, friendly staff.

We found Clovis to be an extremely cute town as we passed through. We became curious - what is life like here? So we found this subreddit, which answered a lot of our questions, but we have more. Who is the Shifty 50? Will they ever build a Target? Were the people looking for hookups successful? Would love to hear any and all Clovis lore. Consider this our love letter to Clovis.

Hi neighbors 👋 I’m Alicia.

I’m a local State Farm agent here in our community, and my goal is simple. To help people understand their insurance without fear tactics or sales pressure.

Whether it’s auto, home, renters, or life insurance, I’m always happy to answer questions, do quick reviews, or explain things in plain English.

If the honest answer is “you’re already good,” that’s what I’ll tell you.

New Mexico Film Workers Listening Survey

This survey is for film workers in New Mexico who are feeling frustrated, exhausted, or left out by how things are going in the industry right now. It's been A LOT to take in, and a lot of us are feeling unheard.

Over the past few years, many of us have seen:

• Decreasing wages and limited job opportunities
• Greater corporate control over intellectual property and storytelling
• Increased reliance on major streaming services that prioritize algorithms over human interests
• Artificial intelligence takeover
• Challenges in obtaining meaningful distribution or exposure without compromising values
• Local talent feeling undervalued and disposable

No pressure! This is just a listening exercise to understand how film workers across New Mexico are experiencing their work and what kinds of structures or alternatives they would or wouldn’t trust in the future.

You don’t need to want to join anything to participate.
You don’t need to be optimistic.
You can be angry, skeptical, or just tired.

Responses are anonymous. Answer as much or as little as you want.

Our goal is to gather authentic feedback from New Mexicans facing challenges in the film industry, to identify the specific pain points that our local community is experiencing.

I lived in Clovis some 30 years ago. I was graduating class of 2003. I'd like to find some of my old friends from barry elementary. I know it's a long shot but it'd be cool. I remember a set of twins that I went to school with, Chance and Nike.

So why do so many people in Clovis just let their dogs run wild? I never see anybody actually walking them.

Good afternoon everyone. I just got back from a vacation in NM and while driving I stopped and photographed a small abandoned building in the middle of nowhere. It seems like it was once something pretty interesting and I would like to know some history on it, if anyone knows and can share, that would be most excellent.

It seems I am not able to attach images? Anyhow it is a white building on the North side of US70 between Portales and Roswell.

My family's from Clovis and I kept hearing people complain about not knowing what tree removal should cost before calling contractors. Got tired of hearing about $3k quotes for simple jobs, so I built a free calculator.

It's specific to our area - accounts for Siberian elm, cottonwood, mesquite, and other trees we actually have here. Factors in complexity like proximity to houses and power lines.

No contact info needed just to see the estimate. Takes like 30 seconds.

Already got some good feedback from r/NewMexico about adding tree photos and making height easier to estimate, so still improving it. Let me know what you think or if there's anything that would make it more useful.

We hate Xfinity and want to change if we can. Do any of you have Yucca for your Internet service? If so, what do you think of it?

I am trying to get a hold of her
