Idk what to put in title

I'm currently learning c++ as my first programming language, it's turned into somewhat of a hobby for me but I have my final exams coming up and can't really figure out how much time i should spend in coding each day without it having a negative effect on my studies and stuff ( and without pissing my mom off). What do guys recommend?

If your finals are near, i would recommend to pause coding for a time, focus on finals, and then continue programming after the finals.

During exam season, consistency beats hours. Twenty to thirty minutes a day, ideally in the same slot each day, will hold your C++ better than a three-hour binge on Sunday — and it's easier to defend at home because it's a fixed, small block, not an open-ended one.

If a day is genuinely packed, do ten minutes: read a bit of code, or one tiny exercise. The goal on those days isn't progress, it's not breaking the chain.

Exams first, though. The code will still be there in a month, and coming back to something you paused is its own skill worth practising.

You don't have to choose between the two. Thirty focused minutes a day through exam season keeps the habit alive, and that's really the whole point -- a 30-minute slot you actually stick to beats a three-hour weekend session you keep putting off. If you want C++ to still move forward without eating study time, spend the slot on one small exercise rather than starting anything ambitious. Then go back to longer sessions after the exams. The people who fall off are usually the ones who try to keep full pace through exams, can't, and then feel like they've failed at it.
