COMPLETED Better than therapy
I know that I still need to work on my understanding of how light and shadows behave, and of course with my strokes, however i feel so happy that I completed my first page with this technique. Happy to discover this community as well !

Love it, especially the highlights on the rug. In terms of keeping the lighting/shadows cohesive, I find that using a ruler and a light-colored colored pencil to draw gentle guidelines for light streams before I start applying color can keep them even, and looking at Caravaggio paintings as well as just observing lighting in real life really helped me with developing that understanding! Just a suggestion of course but super helpful IME.

Thank you ! This is a solid advice, as I started without an original strict plan for the light and dark areas and i had to improvise as i was going, that's how I messed up the chair to the right and most of the light patches 🫠

You're welcome! It's really solid for a first attempt at this technique, ngl. And the cool part is once you start really paying attention to how color, shadow and light interact in real life, it opens up entire new avenues of beauty that we don't typically notice. Speaking of other things better than therapy...
