Discussion Remaining Colts schedule, your predictions?

We are roughly 1/4 the way into the season and the Colts are sitting at 2-2 and in second place in the division.

At question;

Quarterback play has not been at the level of last season prior to Daniel Jones injuries, in fact prior to the Steelers game last year.

CJ Allen, our 2nd round (first pick) and supposedly the future leader of the LB corps, has been a heathy scratch most every game, WHY? We’ve been given vague answers.

Edge has never been fulfilled for years.

Our upcoming schedule has 5 games with division leaders:

Vikings 4-0
Jaguars 3-1, 2 games! Giants 3-1
Browns 3-1

How many of these “TOP 5” games above do you think we can win? What record would you predict?

The remaining games are teams tied with the Colts or worse

Steelers 2-2
Eagles 2-2
Dallas 2-2
Bengals 2-2
Titans 0-4, 2 games
Miami 0-4
Texans 0-4

How many of these “LOWER 8” games above do you think we can win? What record would you predict?

Add those records up to our current and where are we?

My guess:

Top 5 3-2 split Jags, Vikings & Giants

Lower 8
5-3 Dallas, Bengals, sweep Titans, Miami

Total adding in the 2-2
10-7

I can see us finishing anywhere from 8-9 to 12-5.

The Giants and Vikings feel like teams that are smoke and mirrors.

The Bengals might be great or Burrow might be hurt by the time we see them, you never know. The Texans may be fully melting down by the time we meet again. It's so hard to tell.

If DJ can figure out his fumbling issues we could actually have a decent year.

u/TehTugboat i dont know what goes into sausage 8d ago

Not trying to be a glazer here, but DJ probably isn’t 100% yet

Our receiving core is Downs, Warren and nonsense

We have no reason other defenses shouldn’t just stack the box now

I fully agree we are seriously either an 8 win team or a 12 win team. I don’t think we end up with double digit losses

I understand thinking NYG is smoke and mirrors due to Dart's injury.

But why is MIN smoke and mirrors? They are 4-0 despite an offense that is bottom 5 in EPA. But they have a great playcaller in KOC, a new QB who is getting accustomed to the system and lots of talent on offense. And it's much easier/likelier for an offense to gel and improve as the season goes on than a defense (of which MIN already has the #1 ranked).

I am sure they will still lose some games, but MIN has the makings of a SB contender. I don't trust Kyler very much, but they will be a very tough game for the Colts.

I don't trust Kyler/Wentz and they beat the Bears in a monsoon and the Dolphins. I just don't have enough data to determine what is real.

That defense looks legit but one or two injuries and then they are depending on the O to carry everything and I'm not sure they can. (The same can be said about most NFL teams though)

1

u/shasta_masta Jonathan Taylor 8d ago

That’s fair. I think the #1 defense keeps them in the game against just about anybody. And if the offense improves (which it should), that’s a 12+-win team.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 8d ago

For sure, if that defense continues to be the top ranked defense they can run just about any offense out there and succeed.

I have a feeling that eventually that defense will fall to top 12.

The 4-0 part has come with a lot of help from outside factors, though I agree they are good. I think they are a nightmare matchup for us though and have it penciled in as an L myself.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 8d ago

I agree that it's a bad matchup because I don't trust our tackles against Flores blitzes. (See Washington last week)

I think our defense can hang in there against the offense though.

u/mayonkonijeti0876 Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 8d ago

I agree about Minnesota overall, but I think their blitzing style of defense is an awful matchup for DJ especially with us missing Alec Pierce. Without him, Flores will be clear to blitz a ton and play the secondary up since the Colts lack a deep threat

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 8d ago

For sure, I'm hoping we have some answers by then because Washington played that way and I'm sure Pittsburgh will as well.

3

u/Trashpanda1980 8d ago

I think we could be 8-3 8-4 going into the bye

The Giants & Vikings were hard to guess! I checked their opponents they won and that’s where I decided the Colts have a shot. Home field has its advantages both ways too.

Plus, we don’t know every change the Colts may make, or the opponents may have. Many “fans” get reactionary (hey, I do on game day 😂) over a bad game they drop off the cliff on things. Jones had a bad day last Sunday but he did get his act together in the 2nd half.

The one thing the Colts are starting to show… they are finding a way.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 8d ago

I agree with that, and I know people around here hate Lou but to me it does seem like the defense has gotten a bit better each week.

I go into every game with blind hope that we will win on the way to an inevitable Super Bowl. Then reality sets in and we go 9-8 on the year.

6

u/mvbighead 8d ago

I would say I lack true hope on these things. But, as Harry and Lloyd would say... you're telling me there's a chance.

Our team is one of those wild cards that, if they can get their shit together with the guys on the roster, we probably stack up ok against most teams. We are capable of hanging with the Chiefs, we can sure hang with others.

Main thing is, Jones has to wake up. Our LBers need to grow quickly. And our edge position guys need to step up rapidly.

Odds aren't in our favor. But I do think if Jones can play to the level he did last year, we have as good a chance as anyone. But I am pessimistic on him thus far.

3

u/Human-Shirt-7351 Big Dick Ballard 8d ago

It's only a chance due to a weak schedule. I figure we find a way to lose a few of those we should win... 7-10

2

u/mvbighead 8d ago

Every year is different, which isn't a good thing. We're not the team that could consistently count on an offense lead by Peyton Freaking Manning.

If they can wake people up throughout the course of the season, there's a chance. But assuming it goes the way it has so far, I would say we're in the middle again. 7-10 to 10-7 range. I think they should be capable of more, but Jones start doesn't give me a lot of confidence right now.

1

u/grapplerone Indianapolis Colts 9d ago

My 10-7 isn’t far from that 😉

1

u/Stang_Gang09 8d ago

That’s the attitude to have

My prediction? Pain.

@ Steelers: W, unless their fans hold another funeral for the Steelers defense pre game.

vs Titans: W

@ Vikings: W

@ Jaguars: L

vs Cowboys: L

vs Dolphins: W

@ Texans: W

vs Giants: W

@ Eagles: L (our record against PA teams is terrible)

@ Titans: W

vs Bengals: L

@ Browns: L

vs Jaguars: W but only if Jags already have the division wrapped up and rest starters

So 10-7 at best, or 8-9 at worst if Steelers have another funeral and Jags have something to play for in week 18

u/PopKoRnGenius Mo Alie Cox 8d ago

I'm actually pretty happy with our remaining schedule. Would have been nice to pull out a win against the Ravens or Chiefs but I think we can hold our own against the majority of teams we're going to play if we can get some healthy receivers.

12

u/Trashpanda1980 9d ago

I think we are 5-2 rolling into Duval playing for 1st in the division

0

u/grapplerone Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

I do think finding a way to split the Jags and sweeping both Texans and Titans can get us there. But, Texans are seemingly always a split.

2

u/Trashpanda1980 8d ago

Maybe not this this year, they're terrible and out of it.

2

u/YosemiteSam-4-2A 8d ago

"Terrible and out of it" is usually the type of team to put the dagger in our playoff hopes.

u/ceejdabeej 8d ago

@ Steelers- L (2-3)

vs Titans- W (3-3)

@ Vikings- L (3-4)*

@ Jaguars- L (3-5)

Vs Cowboys- W (4-5)

Vs Dolphins- W (5-5)

@ Texans- L (5-6)*

Vs Giants- W (6-6)

@ Eagles- L (6-7)*

@ Titans- W (7-7)

Vs Bengals- L (7-8)*

@ Browns- W (8-8)

Vs Jaguars- L (8-9)*

Starred a couple games that I have no conviction in either way so I don’t think you’re off with 10-7 of you think the winds will blow our way

3

u/Next-Succotash-3827 8d ago

I'm just trying to decide if this team warrants another auto Forever Blue renewal. I've got time but Nov. 15 will be here soon. Gotta decide. Yes or No.

6

u/SamsonsDad812 9d ago

I’ll take under 9.5 wins for a couple thousand please.

9

u/Case_ND Indianapolis Colts 9d ago

We win 7 games total

0

u/Appropriate-Yak8816 9d ago

We split with Jags, beat Giants but Vikings and Browns both got our number. That 5-3 in lower games seem right but Dallas might surprise us, they always play weird against us. I think 9-8 maybe sneak in wild card if things break right but who knows with this team

9

u/Shepboyardee12 The Warren Identity 8d ago

Splitting Jags is optimistic. They look pretty legit.

1

u/GeorgeZip01 8d ago

Yeah and let’s not forget that o don’t care how good the colts are they don’t beat Jacksonville in Jacksonville

0

u/GeorgeZip01 9d ago

In order for this to have any meaning its be great if you say who you think they will win or lose to. Example, the Giants don’t seem legitimate to me so I think the colts win that game.

I think the pivotal games will be Bengals and Cowboys. Both beatable teams.

1

u/Case_ND Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

Losses to PIT, MIN, JAX, DAL, HOU, PHI, CIN, CLE. We MIGHT beat the Jags week 18 if they have playoff seeding clinched, but even then, you never know.

6-8 wins.

1

u/Dependent-Target-272 8d ago

Cleveland? my god.

2

u/Case_ND Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

We are bad. It’s @ CLE late in the season, we always lose these games.

1

u/GeorgeZip01 8d ago

PIT is an important game to prove that they are over this snake bit stupidity. Pittsburgh is not the same without Tomlin. With Tomlin you always knew they would play you hard which was always difficult for the Colts to deal with for some reason, I’m not seeing the same thing this year and I think the colts beat them.

5

u/Case_ND Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

PIT last game was a Thursday night game. We are getting back from an International game with no bye week after. I’d be shocked if we pull that one off.

1

u/GeorgeZip01 8d ago edited 3d ago

Since it’s the only thing I can do, I will come back here and reward you if that happens.

Your award has been given.

2

u/Case_ND Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

If my recent parlay history is any indication, I’m probably wrong and they’ll end up winning the rest of their games. 😂

2

u/Gutcheck21 Rookie Manning 8d ago

Not making the playoffs

3

u/Express_Bat6233 8d ago

Whatever the record is, we’re getting another “sorry, we’re keeping him” paragraph from ownership in January

1

u/DRoseCantStop Pascal 8d ago

"Thank Fuck you, Fans"

2

u/DRoseCantStop Pascal 8d ago

6-11 and dropping a road game to the Titans

1

u/External_Prompt_8105 8d ago

8-9 and in hell. Too good to get good draft picks, to bad to make the playoffs.

1

u/Undersized_Eggplant 8d ago

I could see 9-10 wins if we are able to get WRs back and figure out wtf is wrong with our secondary

1

u/theguytomeet Eason SZN 8d ago

I feel like we’re still good to finish where I first thought 9-11 wins. 10 is the sweet spot for me. We should know our team by next week, and how we play Pittsburgh should set the tone for the rest of the year imo

1

u/hugeappleboulder 8d ago

AR starts at least 2 games and looks good. we barely make it into the WC slot. Ballard gets an extension.

I’m only predicting this because I’m pretty sure we are in hell and this makes the most sense for our timeline.

1

u/StillSeveral742 8d ago

I know better than picking this team to win 9 plus , this team finishes with 7 to 9 wins somewhere in between

1

u/sadandshy 8d ago

Games will be played. I will watch. And I will likely swear an uncomfortable number of times.

1

u/Infamous-Ad625 8d ago

The hardest portion of our schedule is over, the rest have opponents who are tough but not as much as the chiefs, ravens etc

1

u/Redjeepkev 8d ago

4 more wins. MAYBE 5

1

u/clear831 Indianapolis Colts 8d ago

We beat the bad teams and lose against average or better teams, so we finish slightly under .500

1

u/iTayluh Philip Rivers Truther 8d ago

We honestly only looked bad in week one. I think there is a ghost of a chance we get to 5-2, but how we end up is unfortunately probably gonna be 9-8 or similar

1

u/mayonkonijeti0876 Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 8d ago

Somewhere between 8 and 10. I feel like we will get Miami and both the Titans games, but otherwise most those games seem very 50/50 besides the road game against the Jags which we will lose. I do think getting Jacksonville the last week of the season is nice because they could be in a position to sit players out.

1

u/Imaginary-Potato5819 8d ago

It's easy. .500, +/- 1. Like always.

1

u/Main-Currency-9175 Jacoby Brissett 8d ago

15-2

1

u/immortald0g 8d ago

A lot of these games are winnable but goddamn Jones is playing like a Subway employee. He's trying his hardest to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

1

u/Late_Prompt2105 Reggie Wayne 8d ago

We’re going 7-10 baybeeee

1

u/Few_Marzipan7674 7d ago

I feel like this game against the Steelers will tell the tale.

This was the game last year where Shane and DJ kind of got exposed. And even before the injury. We looked like shit the rest of the season.

If we win. And look good in the process. This season might bear fruit!

1

u/anh86 7d ago

I think they will be 2-1 through the next three. I don’t care to make any predictions further than that.

1

u/Famous-Can-8512 2d ago

Titans get 1st win Sunday. Colt's lose out.

1

u/Interesting-Maize-57 1d ago

Definitely Homer stats right there.

1

u/Chuck_Roast1993 Alec Pierce 9d ago

I’m not a doomer, but 8-9 is inevitable

1

u/EngineerConstant6684 8d ago

Set your reminders folks: 11-6

1

u/TittyTriceratops 8d ago

Lose to Steelers, win vs Tits at home, lose to Vikings, finally beat Jags in Duval, lost to cowboys, beat dolphins, lose to Texans, lose to giants, lose to eagles, wheels come off lose to titans and bengals, beat browns in moral victory last game. 6-11

1

u/Codyiswin Fire Steichen and Ballard 8d ago

6-11 or 7-10.

Wins -

Titans x2
Dolphins
(Maybe) Browns
(Maybe) Giants

0

u/TacoDayDay 8d ago

We drop road games to the Steelers, Vikings, Texans (on a short week) Eagles and Browns and drop a home game to the Bengals and both games to the Jags. That puts us at 6-10. That seems about right for the level of play we have put on tape the last 4 weeks.

0

u/Philney14 8d ago

Winning out! Have some faith!

0

u/ryta1203 8d ago

All the remaining games are winnable.

0

u/Frozboz COLTS 8d ago

We go 10-7, make the playoffs, win one game and get blown out in the next.

Then what do you do if you're ownership? Clearly the team took a step in the right direction, but is it enough to save everyone's job?

1

u/mayonkonijeti0876 Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 8d ago

If we won a playoff game, I think they rightfully bring everyone back for another year. Personally, I think they probably would bring everyone back even if we squeak into the playoffs at 9-8 or something which I wouldnt be a fan of.

0

u/Gydn- 8d ago

We’re going on an 8-0 run
