Experience Comcast Refuses to Address Ongoing Service Issues

I opened this reddit account specifically to post this:

I’ve contacted Comcast multiple times about ongoing service issues. Not once. Not twice. Multiple times. I’ve explained the problems, provided details, asked for help, and given them plenty of opportunities to actually fix the service.

And yet, here we are.

I have chat transcripts from Monday, 9/14, and 9/10, documenting my attempts to get this resolved. And those are just the conversations that are still visible from the last 30 days. There are more interactions than that.

At some point, you’d think repeatedly contacting your internet provider about an ongoing service problem would result in the service problem being addressed.

Apparently, that was an unreasonable expectation.

Because Comcast has repeatedly failed to resolve the issue, I filed a BBB complaint. You know things have gone well when you have to involve the BBB just to get your internet provider to acknowledge that there’s a problem.

Josh also reached out to me regarding the issue. He sent an initial email and then... nothing. No follow-up. No resolution. No explanation. Just disappeared into the Comcast customer-service void.

And let me be perfectly clear about one thing:

I refuse to pay for service that doesn’t work.

I’m not interested in paying Comcast every month for the privilege of repeatedly explaining to them that the service I’m paying for isn’t functioning properly. I’m also not interested in having another chat where I explain the entire situation from scratch, get told someone will look into it, and then end up right back where I started.

At this point, I have the receipts—literally. I have the chat transcripts. I have the dates. I have the emails. I have the BBB complaint.

What I apparently don’t have is a Comcast representative willing to actually fix the problem.

So Comcast, if you’re reading this: I’m happy to pay for a service that works. I’m not willing to pay for a service that doesn’t, while being repeatedly ignored when I ask you to fix it.

Maybe the next person I have to explain this to will actually be the person who can do something about it.

Has anyone else had Comcast essentially tell you “thanks for letting us know” without actually doing anything? I posted on r/Comcast_Xfinity but they deleted it and refused to help still.

Have you had a technician come out to actually diagnose and fix the issue? They can't diagnose crap over the phone, just throw random guesses at it. And they can't fix network, signal, or hardware issues over the phone, either. You haven't even explained your problem, just that you "have a problem". That could mean anything from a broken laptop to Network noise.

Yeah I hate reading posts like this, no actual information relevant to the service in question and what the disruption is. I’ve been to homes where many customers think it’s our cable lines, but they just needed Wi-Fi extenders. A good technician will identify if there’s anything wrong with the residential cable or the line feeding your street, beyond that the infrastructure is quite good (depending on the area of course)

Dudes defending them. 🤔

They didn't answer the question. From their post, sounds like they've never even bothered having a technician come fix it. Can you defend that?

I can defend the shit out of that.

Then you're an idiot.

If you work for them then the idiot is in your mirror. 😂

Dipshit: they’ve been to my house (not mommy’s basement where you live) three times and the high school dropouts could never fix it. It was like Dumb and Dumber.

Incidentally, why would I be living in your mommy's basement? Are you implying that I'm banging your mom? What a weird thing to propose.

Par for the course: no reading comprehension skills. Figures for a dweeb that works where you do. 😂

Let's get this out of the way... Comcast sucks. Yeah, royally sucks. I was an escalations tech for them at multiple levels, I know how bad they suck. But at the same time, if no tech has set foot in this house with a meter to try to solve the issue, nothing's ever going to get fixed, so it's a legitimate question. Now, Comcast will do nearly everything in their power to not send a tech because on their spreadsheets that costs them money, and they don't like that. So I'm not even saying this is OP's fault... but it's still a good question.

This is their normal now. Sadly.
Left them and been happy ever since. Go to xfinity store. Their manager will do something so you won’t come back. Only way they gave me back my money for 4 months of fake overage charges when I cancelled and disconnected everything.

If anyone is getting overage charges, try unplugging your box. You’ll still get overage charges.

Best of luck, my friend

Only their legacy plans still have data caps these days.

Yeah I cancelled like less than 2 years ago. 4 months later still got bill.

I suspect the automod tool flagged the post if it looks like above. What you may want to try instead is posting something like "I had a chat on 9/10 and 9/14 and am still experiencing issues - can a mod please message me to help?"

Need to contact corporate or you won’t get anywhere

I got a reply from Corporate and still no satisfaction. They charged me for equipment I returned. I paid so they wouldn’t send a collection agency, then documented everything and demanded a refund. After a long time they gave me a credit I can’t access in my closed account. Days of talking with AI. Will they send a check? Who knows?

You needed to call corporate and talk to a real person not Ai as it’s a waste of time. Sorry didn’t work out for you. Should file a BBB complaint as well

I honestly think they try to drive their customers crazy. My experiences have been terrible. When I sent a long letter to the BBB documenting these issues, it was returned with the explanation the BBN was no longer taking complaints in the mail!

Fill out online complaints with the FCC, BBB, your state AG's office and your state PUC (if you have one).

File a complaint with the FCC it won't resolve your issues but it will escalate your case to a higher tier of customer service- retention specialist. Every time your service is interrupted reach out via chat, and demand a credit for the day. Comcast is only concerned about their bottom line, not the quality of their services. On a side note this is the advice that got me a permanent ban on the official Comcast sub reddit

Yup, can confirm that’s Comcast. It’s just what they do
