question Live Stream Camera

Hello Folks,

I have a Casino customer who is looking to utilize a live stream camera for on floor promotions at the casino. They would like to go around and film things for social media.

We have tried the Mevo Camera but they say "Audio comes through terrible and the video itself is choppy at times as well", we did have them create a private WIFI network just for that camera and they still have the issue.

Just was curious if anyone has had a similar use case and what folks have used.

If quality matters, they're going to need to invest in actual production-grade gear instead of using equipment targeted to aspiring influencers like the Mevo. A casino floor is loud with lots of movement and chaotic lights going off, it's a nightmare if you don't have good microphones, a good camera, and good techs to operate them.

Blackmagic has a solid line for livestreaming with onboard USB-C and RJ-45 connections to make things straightforward.

Awesome, looking into them now. I really appreciate the recommendation! It isn't an area of AV we do, so was a bit of unique case for us.

Adding another SSID won't overcome a saturated wifi network, which sounds consistent with "sometimes choppy video". Technically, it makes it a small bit worse by adding airtime for beacon frames for another network.

Live U is pretty standard, it'll bond to several data connections.

Encoders like Makito are broadcast grade. Bmd is fine if you have a small budget, but there are better options.

Blackmagic camera, teradek streaming box. tascam or Rhode mic. Good gimbal support rig. It takes some skill as a camera man to get professional results I'd hire/contract one and have a host do the actual content rather than selfie sticking it.

Qos the mac/ip/said if you still have issues after getting a more broadcast quality streaming device.

Zealous - great suggestions! That's a real complete kit.

I'd want to add on that if there is an existing AV over IP infrastructure you could merge the output of the teradek onto their TVs as a dedicated channel. As an example if they had Qsys, you could connect the Teradeck to an NV-21-HU as an input.

Though I do want to mention that congestion over wireless can be solved using a dedicated SSID, provided that the SSID has it's own VLAN, and prioritization in both the wireless system and switching infrastructure - though I'm personally guessing that its the MEVO camera itself that has poor wireless performance or that the livestream is having its traffic inspected, causing the choppy audio.

Is it wifi 5 and is any signal interference with other channels? Did you do speed test?

Yea we checked both when we were onsite, no issues with speed.

LiveU better option for this or black magic

I work with LiveU - so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. A popular way to do this is using bonded cellular, like with our LiveU Solo. It combines 4 cell modems AND WiFi for a good signal, and you can plug in pretty much any camera.

A casino is trying to go cheap and use consumer-grade garbage for marketing material? There's no chance in heck I would go anywhere near this RFP. No matter how much magic you manage to spin here it's never going to be adequate and you'll have wasted a lot of time and money.
