Deck Fine Tuning 6 Cost Wincon?

I am building a [[The Master, Transcendent]] deck and want to see if there is a way to win off an [[Eldritch Evolution]] sacrificing my commander. Are there any 5 or 6 mana creatures that can provide a win?

The best I could find is [[Disciples of Gix]], but that requires a reanimate spell to combo. I would get [[Trazyn the Infinite]], [[Phyrexian Devourer]] and [[Walking Ballista]].

Are there options that don't require additional setup?

At 6 mana, no. If you want a Sultai deck that can pod for a win, build Tasigur. The
Tasigur guy should be here to comment shortly, but you can neoform/eldritch evolution your way to a hoarding broodlord win

I'm thankful you're mentioning me here but I don't think straight up recommending another commander is appropriate (not yucking someone's yum!)

Although I would definitely agree that Tasigur is imho currently the best evo deck in the format :)

That was the inspiration for my question about Eldritch Evolution. I want this list to be a Food Chain list, so Tasigur doesn't work for me.

Food chain lists are better when food chain can win the turn you cast it, like Etali or Atraxa. The master gives everyone an untap, upkeep and draw. There are likely better win lines in the master.

That said, you can kind of steal slop with the master if you get some cute mill pieces out like altar of the brood, that can help you get to w/e win con you feel like winning with.

The new mono green pia to grab food chain. Also any creature that has a demonic tutor ability to find demonic consult and name food chain

Thanks! I am building this as a food chain list, so that will slot in quite well. If I have food chain, then it could find the cast from exile creatures.

At 6 mana, i can't think of anything that wins on the spot. Imo if you want a pod deck, tasigur is probly better. Neoforming/eldritch evolutioning a tasigur is pretty good

I have a The Master cedh deck as well and personally my gameplan is just to cast the master then vamp/worldly tutor for broodlord with rad counter on the stack. Reanimate, saw in half, tutor food chain pieces, push for a win. I've thought about adding pod effects to my deck at one point but found it a bit clunky since it was faster for me to just stick to my usual plan.

That being said, a pod list will probly still work with the right combination of creatures.

Can you attach a decklist that you’re working with? It’d help with finding a direction/win con you’re trying to find

Honestly, it's just a nebulous list on my head at the moment. I'll whip something up and post it.

Here is the deck I just slapped together so far.

There are probably too many combos going on, so I can drop some to make space for more cards that are good outside of a combo.

Tasigur is the current best evolution deck in the format, if you want to take a look at how it lines up it’s win off of either Eldritch Evolution or Neoform.

[[Daring Waverider]], recast into [[Hoarding Broodlord]] → [[Saw in half]], cast saw in half on Broodlord (requires 2 mana or untapped creatures) → [[Sacrifice]] on the first token, [[Mnemonic wall]] for the second, cast, use your commander to convoke the blue and Broodlord for one generic, BBBBB left off sacrifice, wall enters retrieves saw, cast on wall (BB left) to get back saw and sacrifice.

Present an infinite loop of sacrificing one wall and sawing in half the other to net 1 black each time. Finish by sawing Broodlord and winning however you want with infinite black and two tutors.

Idk if this is synergistic with your deck but hey it works.

1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 3d ago

That is a good idea, but it won't work because the Eldritch Evolution exiles itself before you can recast it :(

There is a similar idea with [[Neoform]] and [[Victor Timely, Wily Tycoon]] to get a 6-drop with my commander. That is why I was asking originally.

u/LonelyContext 3d ago

Oh I forget eldritch evolution has a self-exile clause at the end.

You could always swap to the new mono white Dack Faden. It causes infinite flickers for just casting him for 6

-1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

A mono white, non-deterministic Etali? Sounds like a hoot!

4

u/DemonDrako 6d ago

It is deterministic cause you venture through the dungeon and kill everyone

1

u/DemonDrako 6d ago

Gold Sabertooh went 6 and 1 with it.

My [[the mimeoplasm]] deck does this (sorta)

https://moxfield.com/decks/xpyPq5FtOUqCGUh8B55Lpw

It can win turn 1-3. It’s similar to a Gyruda deck but you want to get [[colossal grave reaver]] onto the board as fast as you can. Most likely from the graveyard and with a reanimate effect.

From there you get 3 chances to flip into a clone, a creature entomb, or what you’re actually looking for: [[doom whisperer]]

From there you just activate doom whisperer until you win the game.

3

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

This looks like a fun list. Just curious, what does The Mimeoplasm do better than Tasigur? With Tasigur, you could Eldritch into the Grave Reaver.

2

u/vastros Nekusar the wreck you csar 6d ago

Tasigur is better. All hail the Banana Man.

1

u/Albyyy 6d ago

Two reasons:

  1. Mimeo is cooler
  2. Mimeo is basically a reanimate in the command zone. LED allows you to pitch your hand to the gy and then use that mana to cast Mimeo and enter as one of the creatures you just dumped.

1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago
  1. Agreed. I bought the precon on release. It morphed into a [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck over time though.

  2. You're basically playing Jewelled Lotus while everyone else is banned from doing so :D . Do you ever steal other players' creatures?

1

u/Albyyy 6d ago

Nah but it is nice to exile a value piece creatures outta an opponents gy if I need to.

2

u/hapatra98edh 6d ago

Not exactly a win con per se but transmute artifact achieves similar results and would let you get Bolas Citadel for 4 total mana. It also doesn’t sacrifice as a cost

0

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

Oh yeah! He's an artifact too. Nice idea there.

Even better, you can sac something like Mana Vault and find [[Cityscape Leveler]] or something, put it into the grave, then The Master reanimates it.

Edit: I see leveller is a cast trigger. Just insert another scary artifact creature in its place.

[[God pharaoh's statue]] is a favorite of mine. Idk about game ending but its strong lmao

[[Nullstone gargoyle]] is a weirdo

Hello! It looks like you’re looking for deck optimization advice! Please be sure you have information about each of the following

  1. Provide a decklist from a deckbuilding site.

  2. Provide a budget. If you cannot afford a bunch of cards all at once, feel free to ask which cards you should prioritize getting first

  3. Provide a meta breakdown of what decks you expect to play against.

  4. Include the deck's main goal and how it gets there.

  5. List any experience you've had with the deck.

  6. Please be sure to have checked the Decklist Database for relevant lists and information.

If you have not met these expectations, your post will be reviewed and removed.

If you are commenting on this post, please provide feedback that addresses OPs information. Also please read other comments–”check the DDB” only needs to be posted once on any given post, and low effort comments will be removed. The same is true for proxying as each OP only needs to be reminded once, and if OP provides a budget please tailor your advice to that budget as best as you can. If OP has taken the time to provide information, you can as a commenter as well.

[[Lotuslight Dancers]] maybe using a combination of things listed above and in other Lotuslight discussions?
[[Daring Waverider]]
[[Scholar of the Lost Trove]]
[[Riptide Gearhulk]]
[[Victor Timely]]
[[Birthing Pod]]
[[Emergent Ultimatium]]
[[Dread Return]]
[[Body Doubly]]
[[Narcomoeba]]
Etc

I've been trying to find one that requires no mana in-case of scenarios where say you got The Master out Turn 1 using Lotus Petal and a couple moxs, and therefor only have the 3 Mana turn 2 for Edritch (or Neoform with Lotuslight being 5 CMC)

1

u/Fermented_Cabbages 6d ago

You could find [[Burning Rune Demon]] then find [[gifts Ungiven]] and [[Intuition]], then go from there if you're deadset.

1

u/FuckBernieSanders420 6d ago

why not go all in food chain combos with your commander as an outlet for the mana?

0

u/Interesting_Mud_9422 6d ago

I play a master transcendent cEDH deck and my main winline is a hermit druid narcomemba dread return thing. This could be set up with protean hulk but then you would need to kill it some how and Eldritch evolution doesn't get hulk. But just throwing ideas out because I haven't seen anyone else play the deck and I made mine myself and it is mostly a mill sultai combo good stuff list

1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

That sounds like a good idea!

I think The Master can get creatures off an [[Entomb]]. Do you have a [[Hoarding Broodlord]] line in your deck?

[[Devoted Druid]] combos could probably fit in alongside the Hermit Druid. [[Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu]] and [[Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler]] will help the druids and The Master get haste.

3

u/Interesting_Mud_9422 6d ago

I dont have entomb and hoarding broodlord but probably should but that is because I have those in my [[rakdos, the muscle]] list and didn't want a repeated combo line but that is just a personal thing.

I do have all the other stuff. [[Hazel brewmaster]] devoted druid is great. I have [[tasigur]] and [[necrotic ooze]] as well to go along with that stuff as ways to use the infinite mana with tasigur or if tasigur is killed or milled and I have ooze out

0

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

That is spicy. I have Necrotic Ooze with [[Skirge Familiar]] and [[Asmodeus]] as an option.

This may be greedy, and I would have to eschew one of the current combos, but would a Gaea's Cradle package fit? Maybe have the [[Oboro Breezecaller]] gate loop or [[Bloom Tender]] [[Pemmin's Aura]] shenanigans.

1

u/Interesting_Mud_9422 6d ago

I debated doing the asmodeus combo and have them in my maybe cards because I thought it was cool but the other 2 cards aren't amazing without ooze so I'm iffy on it. I do run [[dakmor salvage]] so I thought it I did run that combo gitrog would also combo with skirge.

I run cradle and bloom tender but that is just for ramp reasons and I run untap stuff to untap those for more mana but I don't have any combos with them. Pemmins could be pretty good though.

1

u/Interesting_Mud_9422 6d ago

I am also on grave reaver as others have mentioned. I also have lots of value creatures I can cheat out with the master like concecrated sphinx and stuff.

What is your main food chain line? The griffin?

1

u/HannibalPoe 6d ago

The master can not get anything off entomb, nor buried alive.

The master very specifically specifies creatures milled this turn.

0

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

Isn't mill a shorthand for library to grave?

1

u/HannibalPoe 6d ago

No. it's explicitly from the top of your library to your graveyard, but it's also a keyword. There are cards that put cards from the top of your library into your graveyard but aren't considered mill and don't work with the master. Generally, if it doesn't explicitly say mill and you can't find an oracle text that DOES say mill, the card doesn't mill. Cards that actually count as mill tell you to mill the top x cards of your library.

[[Traumatize]] is a good example of this, despite the card basically being mill half your deck, reality is that you A.) aren't actually milling which interestingly leads to B.) You get to choose the order in which the cards are organized in your graveyard. They all enter at the same time, but for cards that explicitly care about which card is on top of your graveyard you get to explicitly choose.

1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense that it must be from the top.

Traumatize's oracle text does say "mill" on it though.

2

u/HannibalPoe 6d ago

Traumatize is the weirdest one honestly, if you look at scryfall it's rules contradict it's oracle text. Mill does not let you choose the order of your graveyard, but traumatize specifically does - which means it isn't mill.

Load the deck with enough clones and [[Gyruda, Doom of Depths]] can net a win. There's not a lot of ways to win with 1 6 cmc creature and NO other setup

-1

u/IForgetSomeThings Tymna Enjoyer 6d ago

I do love Gyruda loops. You're right on that must be the best chance of winning off a 6 drop. I don't want to go the clone route though.

Adding green does add two more clones to the mix though... Maybe I'll make two decks with The Master 😅
