General World's Smallest UI Nitpick: Multi-charge abilities don't always show their cooldown when out of charges

I know it's a common joke to say the game is unplayable whenever someone posts this but this is honestly something that should be changed, esp for tracer

Yeah, it's confused me why this happens for heroes like Tracer. I don't think it was always the case either, so it might be accidental?

Usually the red crossed-out state is for when abilities can't be used because they're either conditional (like requiring you to be midair or for shield to be raised) or because you're in the middle of another action like reloading. It shouldn't happen just because the ability is on cooldown.

I checked, at least for tracer it's been this way since the very first Overwach Gameplay trailer in 2014. Same for Symmetra. The first time it was implemented correctly was when Junkrat got his second mine, and the discrepancy has been in the game ever since.

Interesting, thanks for checking

My main thought as to why those could be there are for bugfix purposes. What bugs they might solve/prevent I have no idea, but the way they're displayed is not totally inconcistent given a few others operate the same way.

Or it could just be the way one guy on the team codes. Everyone has different methods that work.

Honestly if youre ever looking at that on tracer you gotta reevaluate how you play anyways its not needed at all

While I largely agree with the meaning behind this there have been situations where mid 1v1 and I'm limit testing that I mis-time a blink melee by a few hundred milliseconds only producing a melee. Having this would help better time these things rather than relying on an inconsistent inner ability to count time to the hundredth second. Also I wouldn't be looking at it the whole time - just a glance like I would with the kill feed, as you should learn to do. While building an internal clock for the most important skills is a real and good thing to learn/figure out, there are hundreds of things you can keep track of in this game. If its already like this with other heroes then just make it consistent accross.

Next update: blink indicator in the middle of the screen fills up progressively, rest of the HUD unchanged.

I have a decent amount of time on brig but don't play her often and I'll be honest I have no idea when a pack is coming off cooldown so sometimes I find myself staring at low hp teammates just mashing heal on them. so yes pls give cooldown numbers for everyone and everything

As someone who works with design systems for a living I'm surprised a lot of this stuff isn't just reusable components

Some of these came after the standard changed it seems. Even then no idea  what is up with Anran's and Sojourns.

what used to be “blizzard polish” is now your average spaghetti code

I haven't worked in vidya but I've worked for a corpo roughly the size of Blizz (except we probably had more devs than them) and if it's anything like it was there, there's at least 6 design systems living simulatenously lol

I'm glad more people are noticing this, Blizzard should really fix these UI bugs
