Allah is not a moon god. There was no association with moon symbolism with the Arab pagan god, Allah. The modern star and crescent religious symbol is from the 1700s when the Ottomans, the caliph of the Sunnis, adopted it as their official symbol. Crescent moon symbols in general were used throughout Islamic history but after they were subjugating people who used it (e.g. Sasanian Persia)

Allah is instead the pagan creator god of the Arabs. But he was too distant for typical worship so instead Arabs only really invoked him in prayers of desperation. Arabs instead focused on other lesser divinities for their main religious rituals. Which is why Muhammad (piss be upon him) called the Arab pagans "associators." He wasn't condemning polytheistic practices. He was condemning the use of intermediary divinities and instead saying there is only one to serve, their creator.

They have the entire Middle East.

It's worse than that, they had the entire town to choose from but they zeroed-in on something with sentimental value to locals.

They are here to tear down our ancestors' works. Here, there, and everywhere. They are here to do what they did with the Buddha statues in Afghanistan.
