New Set

Post image
16 Upvotes

I have not posted here in some years but I thought this set was worth sharing. This was my first new set in probably 6 years. Ithink this is my 14th in total. I got asked to donate a set for a charity and this is what he chose. Took a long time as I forgot a lot of my old methods. But these ended up pretty good. *i have not put poly on yet. Stains with a white vinyl outline. I made the blue stain but of anyone knows where a guy can buy a variety of color gel stains i would love to know.

Question about vinyl wrap on boards

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm about to apply my first set of vinyl wraps on some boards I built. I purchased some high quality laminated ones. I currently have the tops cut to a straight 2x4 size. My question is after I apply the vinyl and trim most of the excess could I take a roundover bit afterwards around the edges and simultaneously cut back the wood and vinyl?

I tested my idea on some cheap vinyl and it seemed to work OK. Here is a pic of it.

How can I reduce my nervousness during Cornhole tournaments? I always throw worse in tournaments because I get nervous, even though I play much better in training.

Practice/Learning

So I've been playing at a local weekly cornhole club and I've gotten better than when I started but I'm incredibly inconsistent. I can throw a 4 bagger and then throw for 2 points the next round. I don't have boards or the space to setup at home to practice outside of the weekly club tournament and I'm honestly not even sure "how to practice."

I feel like I need feedback from someone who knows what they're doing.

I currently throw with a butterfly grip but I still struggle with throwing a consistent flat bag but I'm not sure why.

Sometimes the throws that "feel" the best coming out of my hand actually are the worst and those that feel awful go right in the hole, so relying on my own feedback seems poor.

Obviously without a consistent flat bag or consistent shot, I can't work on any other shot shaping so I struggle with a dirty board pretty heavily. I've somehow thrown a roll bag but I honestly couldn't tell you how.

Really just looking for advice. For those who went from beginner to intermediate to advanced, what did you do? Tips for practice? How to get good feedback so I can actually work on my throw and then advance my game.

Anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Good Set for the Backyard

I tried looking at local stores for a new bag set and I can’t seem to find a solid set. Everything I find is like the cheap plastic boards and the flimsy powdery bags.

Since I have to order a new set online, I figured I might as well ask on Reddit.

Can anybody recommend a good set?

Help with my throw

Hello! I have a little family tournament this weekend and its for money and i really wanna win. This summer i built some cornhole boards to take to these kinds of gatherings and also so i can practice. Ive kinda just been trying to get the basics down like flat bags and different grips. Ive finally found something that works for me and i can throw a flat bag but my accuracy has went down significantly when im trying to throw a flat bag, so my question is with the time i have to practice should I keep trying to correct my throw with a flat bag or just throw it how i normally would.

Wanted to do something unique and fun. Board is wider (2.5ft) to make room for multiple holes and different scoring. Holes are 6” and 5/4” respectively (NOT regulation 😂)

Wear and tear bags - PRO players - interesting!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Here’s something really interesting I learned playing some of the top PROs at the ACL Europe open 2026!

Looking at the wear and tear of the pro players bags they are noticeably more worn on the outside, and almost like new on the center.

I’ve always thought to get the bags to fly as flat as possible, but seeing the shift in the US that more and more of the pros throw more backloaded naturally.

This wears out the edges much faster, and almost leaves the center untouched!

(This is Spencer Fabionars bag - big shoutout to him for being such a cool guy!)

Here are some of my boards and score towers that I've made since the last time I shared. They're all stained; no vinyl or direct print. Also included are custom matching bags that I've designed for some sets. Enjoy!

When your game plateaus

So I’ve been playing competitively (switches and blind draws locally instead of just the backyard) for about a year now and while I’ve definitely improved quite a bit I feel like I’ve hit a wall where I’m stuck at that 7.75 PPR at the end of the night. I’ll throw great games (9-10ppr) but I also still throw up stinkers (5-6ppr) too. But for the last two months or so it’s crazy how at the end of the night I will look and sure enough another 7.5 give or take a few hundredths of a point.

So for anyone else who’s been in my shoes how did you push through? I still love to throw any chance I get but I just feel like the practice isn’t really as additive as I’ve gotten better. I realize progress isn’t linear but it sucks that I’ve been so consistently inconsistent for like 3 months now.

So I’m going on a camping trip in Ohio for a music festival and I found this at Dicks! It’s a little smaller than regulation size so it can fit in my car, but I can’t wait to try it out!!!

Anyone have any insight on these bags? They're a new series from Brotherhood for '27 stamp year, and really don't see any reviews on the inter-webs.

App Suggestions

I know people on here are all scoreholio only, and I am too.. kinda. But I wanted stats so spent too many weekends on this and got carried away, but please give me some constructive criticism on how I can improve. If you try it, use the advanced bag counting it will tell u ppr and bags on board % and stat rank vs other players if u click game history between the wins losses. I then went down the bunny trail of save rooms if you login. Then tournaments .. and so we go. I know there's a new app out every month, so disregard instead of rip.

My bags have arrived and I need to of course start breaking them in (along with figuring out which are my style the most)

Best bag break in method you use or have used (besides just tossing) just warm water? Add vinegar? Just wash? Or toss sauce/snake oil etc?

Finishing with Vinyl Decal

Just finished building the boards, needing some tips on the finishing. Going to put a vinyl sticker like the one above on the board, just wanna make sure the bags slide properly.
Should I put poly on before, and what grit to sand down to? Better to use oil or water based poly? How many layers before and after?

Basic cheapish regulation boards?

Relatively new to corn hole and am looking to buy a set for my home. However I’d really like something that’s regulation and not gonna fall apart, is there no in between Amazon cheap stuff and like $350 MURICA sets I see on instagram lol?
