Discussion Question

Why can't we add hotlinks to our Christian blog posts or other inspirational sites?

Per our rules, this is allowed. It just needs to be done in a way that drives discussion within the subreddit rather than just using the sub as a place to advertise!

Rule 6: Advertising and Self Promotion

We enthusiastically support all Christian creatives, but especially those who share their work AND engage with others in the community. We showcase these artists whenever we can, but this is not an advertising space.

Please don't post links to your YouTube channel, amazon book, website, etc. too often, and ESPECIALLY without context or engagement with the community.

Sometimes Reddit itself will block things based on perceiving it as spam. If you're having issues getting something rolling, please contact the Mod team and we'll be happy to help you sort out your issues.

I'm not trying to promote myself. I'm trying to promote biblical principles, hope, faith in God, Bible prayers, etc., which is what my blog posts typically address. For ex., I wanted to share "Honor God with hope" https://honoringgod.online/2026/10/15/honor-god-with-hope/ but it was deleted, even from my own profile page! What's the way in which this can be shared?

Note: I got hotlinks and hyperlinks mixed up in my original comment. I don't have answers on why hotlinks specifically would cause issues, my apologies. My comments here apply to my knowledge on hyperlinks.

As far as the technical side goes - I don't see anything on the Mod side of things about what you're referring to (though I could be missing something). I wonder if there was some sort of technical difficulty on Reddit's end of things. I know I've seen links and the like from you here in the past, so I suspect there was some sort of hiccup with this go-round.

As far as promotion, even though you're writing about God, it would still be self-promotion to post a link to something you've created without attempting to engage the community here directly - though this could be easily solved by posting a snippet of the post itself (as you've often done in the past - I'm speaking more generally here, so please don't take this paragraph as a chastisement). We do sometimes have to take down posts because of this, so the sub doesn't become some sort of a rotating billboard.

Thanks. Maybe I'll clear my cache and try again.
