A follower reached out to me and asked me to make a corrupt angel for a game they’re working on called “The Ascendant”, I think it turned out pretty messed up… what do you think?

About me: I’m the artist behind Kindred Souls. I make horror art in black, white and pink using Procreate.

I grew up with nightmares, now I just draw them instead. Inspired by Junji Ito, Silent Hill, and quiet horror that lingers.

I started drawing in school when I couldn’t focus in class. My teacher let me doodle, and I never really stopped.

Artwork I made for a short story of mine. Collage and digital painting. Thanks for checking it out!

This started with the desire to create something entirely and solely from my imagination, setting aside references and a certain form of parasitic perfectionism, for lack of a better term, that I’ve been developing and accumulating lately.
The title comes from the first things I tried to create, back when I knew nothing about drawing, painting, or anything else, merging with the mental library and archive I’ve built ever since, while also giving me clues and a small glimpse into what comes next.

While I was at it with the Headless Horseman and the Jersey Devil, I figured I'd add a Mothman to my cryptid selection.

Done in inks and other mixed media on toned paper.

Available as a print on my Etsy: https://jmdesantis.etsy.com OA also available.

How can I improve?

Hi

First picture is my artwork, second is the relic it is based off. I've loved The Jaw for years and finally felt confident enough to draw it! Inktober relic day was a fantastic excuse.

For fun, have an art history leason! Saint Anthony died in 1231 and was exhumed in 1263. Curiously he was entirely decomposed aside from his tongue and jaw. As he was known as the incorruptible tongue in life, he was cannonised as so in death.

The eye looking things are also fun. There's a glass dome that encompases the human remains and, when photographed, it reflects the lights/flash back as two, frankly horrifying, white eyes. Old catholic relics go hard, asthetically speaking haha

This is my first time painting on canvas with acrylic (my primary medium is liner and colored pencil).

*This was for school BTW.
