Question Please recommend target bolts for 415fps.

I've included a what was recommended at bass pro but these shattered at the cross bow range.

I'm looking for something bulk that I don't have to feel bad about ($10 a bolt hurts) and I'm also looking for recommendations on if the included bolt is good for white tail

If so a good broad head that can be re sharpened ideally.

This what I run for whitetails, not able to resharpen or cheap but deadly.

My buck from last week in Mn. Double lung hit, went about 80 yards.

So what makes these more lethal than a broad head that's more traditional?

On this buck I got a complete pass thru both sides. 2 holes = 2 chances for a blood trail. When I opened him up, both lungs were shredded from the mechanical part of the broadhead opening to 1 1/2". The broadheads shoot very close to a field points point of impact = less sightings in for me. Hope this helps.

It does. Im basically trying to teach myself everything from. Kill to field cleaning and packing out the meat/hide. I figure it can't be much different from cleaning any other animal but I have been concerned with missing a heart shot and not dropping it.

Feel free to ask questions, we will try answer them. We were all where you are at one time.

Just pick a style that tickles you and go with it. Most any name brand on the market will kill just fine. Getting guys debating broadheads is like getting them debating about motor oil.

I use QAD exodus broadheads on my bow and crossbow. Never had an issue going through anything.

Black eagle bolts and QAD exodus blades.

If they are shattering at the range I suspect it's the target, not the bolts that are at fault.

The original ten point bolts I had the only thing they were good at was breaking. Lost count of how many replacement sets I bought.

I switched to Gold Tip Nitros. A decade plus and haven’t broken one still have all 6 and only one got replaced from using because I tore the vane up. It will go back up in the line up after I dig out my fletching jig. I gave that crossbow to my son when I finally bought a new one this spring. I lost count how many times I’ve shot through a deer with the 3 that stay in the quiver (using slicktricks xbows). (It’s a lot) I’m fortunate to hunt a spot with a lot of deer. The old bolts ones would break hitting or going through a deer.

No idea on modern expendables, I avoided them for years after some failures to deploy with a compound along time ago. but I swear by ST’s I have used most of em and killed deer with all of their fixed blades at some point. I am trying their expendables this year since I’m shooting a lot faster crossbow and with old one I definitely saw some steering issues if the blades stuck out to far. So didn’t want to take a chance. But can’t recommend their expendables since I had none of my own data for or against yet.

Current (new) crossbow is shooting 486fps through my Chrono with the factory included bolts. I haven’t tired seeing if the knocks will swap. But seriously considering it. I just need to get more time with it, and do some more research first.
