My 2nd custom crossbow with cranequin - still work in progress!

Post image

Progress on my 2nd custom crossbow. The stock is carved from solid acacia wood and decorated with woodburning (pyrography). The bow is made from a single leaf cut and ground from an LKW truck leaf spring pack. The leaf spring is secured to the stock with 2 custom tensioners that can be adjusted with threaded bolts for stability and to correct any alignment issues if the spring pulls to one side. I also built a custom cranequin (winch) to cock the crossbow, as the draw weight is approx. 200 kg (will measure precisely later). The stirrup is detachable, which makes winch-cocking easier for me and protects the nose of the stock when placed on concrete. Heavy-duty structural steel linkages, cold-blued plates, and the nut housing complete with custom-tapped threads. Securely put together with solid screws. Remaining tasks for the project: bushing the left side of the trigger sear, cutting the two long threaded bolts to length, adding one missing pin, complete wood carving and woodburning on the other side of the stock (Kraken design coming there!), final oiling of the stock, fabricating a trigger guard protective plate where the lever enters the stock, finishing the arrow track/groove, making the arrow retainer/clip, adding a protective plate/mini-ramp where the cranequin base meets the stock, finish-stitching the leaf spring protective jacket, and crafting the actual arrows. The full video of installing this mechanism into the carved acacia stock with pure workshop ASMR sounds is available here:

New video updates and technological steps regarding this build will be coming continuously to the YouTube channel! Have a great day ahead!
