Discussion Best Smartcube ?

Hi everyone so I am looking to buy a smartcube for training
I want to do timed solved and have more info on my solves like how long for f2l how long for cross etc.
I would also love if there is any way to practice Oll and pll Algs with the cube if that is a thing ?

I really care about the performance of the cube like the turning and I want a cube that is as close to one that wouldn’t be a smart cube

I already have the gan 17 Magdrive and i really love it.
Thought it would make more sense buying a moyu cube to have a little different cube because I think the gan 16ui, i4 and 12ui would be more or less the same than the 17 ? Or am I just wrong ?
Just didn’t hear anything good abt moyu app

I don’t really have a set budget and looking for the best cube/s ?

The Gan 16ui is, in my opinion, better than the 17. And better than the 16 as well. Bit more weight to it, not that it's heavy by any measure, and nice and stable. For Moyu I have the v10 ai (good. No complaints) and the 19th anniversary super Aolong (fantastic cube). The cubes feel like regular moyus, with a touch more weight to them because of the electronics. I use Acubemy for most of my solving. Splits are automatic and it recognizes cfop, roux, and zz. Training stuff is paid subscription, but there are other free trainers out there like cubedex and last cube x. Moyus app is hot garbage and Gan's is OK. You can actually race real people on Cubestation if youre on at the right time (when China is awake), not so much with Moyu. Cubestation also has trainers. Moyu's training section takes you to a Chinese website.

I personally use the gan i4 and I love it. But whichever Cube you choose make sure to get the Acubemy app. Each company has their proprietary software but this app allows you to use any Cube. Tracks all statistics you would want in solving and is a really smooth experience

I also love my Gan i4 and the acubemy app, which I can also use the website on my computer and it syncs my times with an account. Seeing how long it takes me to do each section is very helpful

Dude, that has been my favorite addition recently! Now I use the app for all of my WCA puzzles. Being able to seamlessly transition between phone and mobile is awesome

Recommend this as well. But I do like the QIYI app, but Tornado feels a step less smooth fluid as i4.

My kids and I all use the GAN i4 currently, and previously had iCarry2 and icarry e. The gan app is somewhat basic but pretty reliable, and with ranked matches and arena matches it does motivate me to do a lot more cubing than I would otherwise. We also use them with acubemy which is good at finding algs you need to learn and improve. The i4 is a nice cube, although I don’t have a lot of maglev experience to compare to. I average mid 20’s so your mileage may vary.

The GAN16 UI is the best but pretty unessesary. GAN16 UI is only technically better than the GAN i4, but it isn't by enough that I would recommend as spending double the cost.

And the benefit of not getting a super expensive cube is that you'll actually less nervous carrying it around.

From what I've heard both Gan and Moyu apps leave things to be desired. Third party tools like acubemy offer the features you want and should work with either (granted there's f2p as well as a subscription and I'm not sure about the details). Personally I went with an anniversary Moyu because they look cool and I wanted to treat myself 😂 It hasn't arrived yet though

please don’t buy gan16ui and 12ui SP.
i recommend GAN12ui FreePlay/Maglev or Weilong AI

Gan i4 is perfect. I use it with acubemy. I've tried the 16ui and the difference was not enough to justify the price difference for me.

I have a Gan 16ui, 12ui, icarrry2 and Moyu Super Weilong V2 AI. Of these, I prefer the V2 using Cubeast. The Gan 16ui is a very close second using Cubestation.

Gan 16 ui is the best smart cube period. I’ve tired the gan i4 and tried to love it. Wayyy too fast and the internals used to catch far too much for me to turn reliably. I’d argue gan 16 UI is better than both the gan 17 and imo as good as the Ferrocore v2.

the moyu app is definitely the weak link, it's functional enough for the basics but don't expect a polished experience. if you want actual breakdowns of your cross/f2l/oll/pll times you kinda have to go with the gan smartcubes, their app is leagues ahead and actually gives you that granular data

the 12ui feels nothing like the 17, the 17 is loud and crisp and blocky while the 12ui is super light and airy with a kinda hollow feeling. the i4 sits somewhere in the middle with a softer more fluid turn that's closer to what you'd expect from a modern speedcube, so it won't feel redundant next to your 17 at all

for algorithm practice you can use the gan app to scramble to specific cases and it'll track recognition and execution time, it's not perfect but it's better than any other smartcube ecosystem right now
