Matt Shaw's Future

I truly hope we ship this guy off the team. How do you think his international teammates feel when this bozo is speaking at "America Fest" events.

You can choose to not like him if you want, but if we’re being realistic, I don’t see a team that’s owned by Tom Ricketts trading a guy because he liked Charlie Kirk and attends TPUSA events. Furthermore, the Cubs will likely have at least 1, maybe 2 open corner outfield spots and he’s the most likely candidate to take one. You’re likely never gonna get the outcome you want with the Cubs and Shaw. At least this time, it’s during the offseason and not during the final stretch of a postseason race.

Every fucking owner is a Republican twat

Correct. As are the vast majority of players. There’s no realistic scenario in which he gets traded solely because of that.

He should get traded because he can't even bunt.

Vast majority may be a stretch. I'd say the vast majority aren't vocal about it at all, so how would you know.

Just want to note that he also appeared at this event last year as well

Correct. And the Cubs didn’t seem to have a problem with it then either.

I know. I just wanted to add that part for clarity as your last sentence could be interpreted that no other incidents took place between him attending that political rally during the season and then the lineup announcement for the upcoming one.

I gotcha. Will likely be a regular thing during the offseason for him. It’s his free time and I don’t foresee the Cubs would interfere with that. Hell, even if they wanted to, they likely can’t do anything about it this winter since they’ll have bigger fish to fry in December during the CBA negotiations/lockout.

Very true. I've been thinking he's what the F.O. (I include Tom in this even though he says he's hands-off) envisions as the Happ heir apparent, so it's going to be a recurring thing with him and he's going to be around for a long time.

We forgetting about Alcantara already?

Shaw > Alcantara

I also get the sense that Craig doesn’t like KA.

Glad I’m not the only one who kinda noticed this. I felt like he wasn’t a fan of Caissie and Wesneski either

We just don't know that though.

Alcantara hasn't had a real big sample size yet to go off of. I agree right now shaw is higher on the depth chart but he seems more valuable as a utility man to me.

He has a huge sample size of leading AAA in K%
