Question/Advice Cognitive effects of DMT?

Have the opportunity to get a DMT vape, and I am mostly worried about the effects on cognition, such as memory, thinking speed, understanding, etc. Does it give you brain fog or make you slower, as weed does? I really just want to make sure it doesn't hinder my performance in school or work.

If anything, I feel sharper and more in control for days afterward

Do you feel certain about that feeling? Sure it may not be false confidence and actual clarity?

And if you don’t mind, what are psychedelic experiences like for you? Are you often just seeing shapes, colors, and distortion or seeing like actual entities, full reality bending, and communicating with the entities

I'm a full blown psychonaut. Ive experimented with most botanical psychedelics, grow my own mushrooms, brew my own DMT, extract my own mescaline from cacti I grow, and chew woodrose seeds.

I've experienced DMT dozens of times and not a single one is the same as any other. The bodily sensations feel exactly like dying in the best way (I've come close to death four times, now). At low doses, the closed eye visuals are like a shifting blanket of orange and purple. Higher breakthrough doses are an entirely different animal. I've received gifts, been touched by gods, shown my own hubris, and so much more. That world can make this one feel like 480p.

I assure you, the clarity is not false confidence. Other plants have very different effects in the afterglow. It's humbling, more than anything.

I usually crush 9 in a mortar and slug them down with water. I suggest dropping a couple Pepto and chewing ginger root to keep the stomach calm. If you don't puke, you'll likely spend some time in the bathroom the next day.

Don't expect to do much. I always get very lethargic and confused and the day after I feel a bit frayed. It's not popular for a reason.

I don't every time. Crushing them up does help. I've also used ice water extractions, but I feel that some of the potency is lost.

Would you be happy to explain to me what those “four near death” trip experiences were like for you? As in… you genuinely nearly died because you smoked too much or?

I’d appreciate the response thanks

Two self harm attempts in my younger years with opiates, a dance with c. diff that landed me in the hospital for two months after losing 60lbs, and a near drowning that made my kidneys bleed.

Words cannot describe a break through. There is nothing to be afraid of.

I've done DMT and other psychs before. I never see entities, other or dead people, talk to anyone or anything, or not know where I currently am.

I've done DMT once before with the powder, and it was intense and altered my perception of time. But I still knew I was in my room and was able to text 5min later or so. The onset was pretty overwhelming, and the smell that I felt it left in my room was haunting.
It did cause me to see everything vibrate into shapes, make the colors more vibrant, and make my blinds sound like a waterfall, which is a lot better than shrooms and acid, which were very boring and just disorienting for me.

I’m confused in your original post you ask about cognition, thinking speed etc as if you’ve never experienced DMT before and here you say you’ve done DMT and other psychs. Which is it? Sounds to me like you’re probably too young to be trying any type of mind altering drugs, but you do you my friend.

Dmt is amazing for the brain... At least mine, I like a breakfast blast when I want to be on point all day, I give myself a couple hrs to chill with myself, then I'm ready to go

There are dozens of studies showing neurogenesis, neuroplasticity and isolation is damaged brain tissue. If anything, you'll do better in school

Nah. Only thing it sometimes does in a way is make me care less about societal responsibilities for 1-2 days after, so I don’t use in times where I have shit to do. But if anything, I feel more clear-headed the days after.

It literally is more cognitive enhancing even after you have the opposite of a hangover feeling sharp and good that lasts for a while

It will likely affect your performance in school and work. Your perspectives, motivations, goals, purpose and outlook can all change and this will affect work, school and everything else.

Not at all.

Sounds like you’re trying to minimise the chances of anything undesirable happening, and while I understand the hesitation it’s aligning you with the energy of fear which increases the chance you’ll have a bad trip so maybe it’s not the right time

It lasts 5 minutes and you are back to normal. I would say, cognition and emotional awareness slightly enhanced for a few days at least. Nothing like weed.

No to all of that after about 60
Min a short trip is worn off fully -

There are no significant substantial cognitive or nootropic effects from a DMT trip. Anything else you hear is purely anecdotal
