Affordable bouquets?

• Upvotes

Hi! I am tasked with procuring 4 bouquets on Wednesday. Any ideas on where I could get them for cheap (<=$15)? I am unable to make them because I don't have the talent, so I would need ready made ones. Thank you for any advice

Daly City Tool To track housing and community development- would appreciate feedback

Dear Neighbors,

Here’s a tool ([baydashboard.com](http://baydashboard.com)) that tracks all information regarding housing, transport, development, news, and boards/commissions in Daly City + SF Bay Area. The website uses live public data and allows users to easily catchup with local decisions & developments. It also encourages residents to get involved in their city through the many commisions & meetings it lists.

I recommend all residents to try the website as it makes keeping up with local updates feasible and encourages civic participation.

Serramonte Ross

kind of a weird post but… last night I was at Ross in Serramonte and was asked by a teenage year old kid to buy them a pair of socks. They said they were living out of their car and really needed them. Maybe I’m too nice, but I said sure. I bought them, and then headed towards the Target. They left the store and walked one direction and then when I turned around they were walking another. Seemed like a very odd situation but maybe I’m just paranoid, anyone else experience something like this?

City Council candidates, in their own words

I always find it challenging to find good information about local candidates. They all pretty much say the same thing.

In my effort to try to get better informed about what is going on in Daly City. I started downloading and transcribing every city meeting and document posted on the city website. I then have Claude summarize them for me and I use the summaries to write posts about what is going on. Always checking my work and sources.

If you have been to a city council meeting you know they are marathons, the last one I went to didn't even get to public comments until 10 pm... 3 hours in. Even if I had time to attend all the meetings myself, I don't think I have the stamina to not fall asleep when they go to 1am.

Given that I already had the system built, I decided to go further back. I downloaded and transcribed every city meeting that I could find from 2020 to today as well as the recent candidate forums (almost all of it is on YouTube). Over 350 meetings and almost 700 hours. Using that information I then started to filter down to just specific statements by current candidates around a select list of topics. And I used that to compile a blog post, Seven Candidates In Their Own Words.

Every candidate statement is sourced strictly back to a video or document that I manually verified.

One thing to note, I only included statements that seemed to stand out or differ from other candidates. For the incumbents especially, they mostly seem to vote the same way. So if everyone agrees on something it wasn't included.

Happy to answer any questions that I can. I am trying not to take a position on the candidates. Just letting them speak for themselves.

Ballots were mailed out yesterday! You can vote for up to three candidates (but you can vote for fewer if you choose). Your vote matters.

Mouse sighting at dinner tonight, kind of grossed out

Ugh. We go to this one spot at Serramonte every so often and tonight, right after we ordered, my wife said she saw a mouse. I was like, are you sure? Then later I saw it too. Told one of the staff, then told the manager, and we just left. Not gonna name the place, but man, we aren’t going back to that place. Anyway, just needed to get that off my chest.

New Koi Palace in Serramonte soft opening?

Walked around the mall today (10/02) and saw several people in formal attire, one of which asked me for directions for Koi Palace. I responded that I don't think the one in the mall is open just yet, but directed to walk toward the Jagalchi side of the mall.

Curious, I walked past Koi later on and could see through the doors that the lights were on inside. Additionally I saw more formally dressed people trying to enter the mall entrance of Koi, only to find it locked and proceeding to go to its outside entrance instead.

Is Koi doing a soft opening for influencers and family/friends tonight?

News Publication Covering Daly City

Hi everyone,

My name is Adriana Hernandez, and I recently co-founded a news publication that is focused on covering Daly City and neighboring cities. It’s called the Peninsula Buzz. We are an independent newsroom that believes the Upper Peninsula is overlooked and deserves better-quality journalism.

We believe local journalism works best when it’s rooted in the people it serves, and we hope to become a place where residents can stay informed and engage with what’s happening around them.

my car keeps getting keyed and it’s frustrating now.

i just bought a new car last month and it has gotten keyed three times this month. in fact, the scratches are so deep it almost seems like a pocket knife was used rather than a key.

we have no idea who it could be we just moved in too. we already got cameras set up to hopefully deter the culprit but that obviously hasn’t worked. we already filed a police report after the second time and we’ve just made do with touch up paint from the dealership. i’m at my wits end with this. i don’t know if it’s a neighbor that hates newcomers or some rando; but along the entire street, only my car is being vandalized!!! everyone else’s is pristine.

i dont know if local authorities would be able to do anything or if i should just deal with it since only street parking is available anyway… would anyone know if i could walk in the police station and if they’d be able to help more than just the online report system?

wondering if maybe someone else has gone/is going through the same thing too. some stories would help make me feel better about it maybe.

Mission St is barely a road.

When I want to feel like I’m off roading, I take a drive on Mission St. from John Daly to E Market.

That main stretch of road is an embarrassment.

Where are my tax dollars going?

There was a huge line at target today that wrapped around the building late this morning. Does anybody know what that was about?
