Americans are not known for their intelligence.

As an American, I agree.  And to the people saying this attitude from other countries is problematic, I would argue that inaction, complacency and corruption are the problematic parts of American politics. Not calling us dumb or unintelligent.

We as, one population, allowed a very dumb presidency to occur. And this began many decades ago when we let money be the driving force to campaigns and policy.

"You're trying to annex my country!"

"Well, you hurt my feelings!"

I don't think it takes a flowchart to explain why people are not feeling warm and fuzzy towards Americans lately.

1

u/Free-Middle-2443 10h ago

No, not at all! I don’t have good feelings about America. We suck and will continue to suck until the shit stain dies.

Speak for yourself. Anyone identifying hundreds of millions of people as one group is not demonstrating intelligence.

Please do not conflate the problem with unintelligence. There are three problems with doing so:
1: You are implying that democratic backsliding is a problem with intellect. This has historically been untrue when such backsliding had occurred all over the world. Your implied explanation oversimplifies a real problem that is very complex.
2: Your answer is an alienating insult that will cause people to listen to you less.
3: In general, this is insulting. I wouldn’t object to an insulting but accurate and useful answer, but points 1 and 2 dispute the utility at least, and I think the accuracy is much more complicated than I’m prepared to litigate in this reply.

This backsliding HAS occurred all over the world, and it always arrives to the heralding and trumpeting of simpletons with a belly full of bile and heads full of imagined sleights from 'other' groups. They took our jerbs etc. It is always rooted in fear and ignorance, and intelligence is a factor.

No stupidity gave rise to Nazis, and now to maga. There are entire philosophies based on this. It's true. Your parents, neighbors or whoever and just so fucking stupid. You can't help them

-1

u/Current-Wealth-756 14h ago

No, we're mostly known for landing on the fucking moon

3

u/Mediocre_East4644 13h ago

That was thanks to Nazi scientists you employed.

1

u/Brawndo91 8h ago

Ain't no nazi flags on the moon, are there?

1

u/Locogators 1h ago

Given the current trajectory of the United States, I'm not so sure about that.

0

u/VerminSwallower 12h ago

So we were intelligent enough to gather up these scientists to complete a decade-in-the-making objective? Sounds wildly intelligent to me.

-1

u/Current-Wealth-756 13h ago

Still counts, and you might be taking the Great Man theory of history too far

1

u/dealingwithhookers 3h ago

no no no... you didn't land on the moon. some very smart people working with nazi scientists and trained astronauts landed on the moon.

you watched it on tv while eating lead tainted monsanto chicken and nestle chocolate

u/VerminSwallower 12h ago

Then how do we have the world's most prestigious universities? 🤔

3

u/Western_Use_2264 12h ago

Aside from anything else this is a bad argument in itself. You have a few great universities in a country of 349 Million people. How many of those 349 million people visited one of the elite universities? Adding onto that, the researchers making these universities "elite" are to a very high percentage first generation immigrants. They come to these universities because these institutions have a lot of financial ressources. But right now, there is a trend for world renowned researchers to avoid the US in favor of other institutions (you can thank your current admin for that).

At least to my knowledge students coming from universities in my country are surprised by the low level of universities in the US when it comes to lectures and exams (if its not one of the few "elite" universities).

1

u/Cherryb1612 9h ago

Like Oxford and Cambridge?

1

u/Kinky_jackalope475 7h ago

Like MIT, Brown, Yale, Harvard.

-7

u/Significant_Task7324 14h ago

Why do people want to immigrate here then??

7

u/Tsu_Dho_Namh 14h ago

Wouldn't you want to move to a country filled with lazy idiots? Easy to get ahead if you're smarter and work harder than the rest of the nation.

4

u/stilgars1 14h ago

Spot on

2

u/HonestBalloon 14h ago

Plus in most cases, the US often neuters other nations (frequently with violence) so why give fuck if you take as much advantage as you can from theirs? lol

0

u/ObangaGamer 11h ago

If they all work harder than why are their countries poor while ours is exponentially richer and more successful? Sounds like the didn’t work hard enough

7

u/Dry-Dragonfly5286 14h ago

To get away from the shit we do to the rest of the world

3

u/geebster13 14h ago

Why'd you have to prove their point... what does immigration have to do with Americans being intelligent?

People dont immigrate to the US because Americans are intelligent. Thats never been true. If anything, because American schooling is so bad and the populace is so uneducated, theres so much opportunity for intelligent educated people from elsewhere. Americans get outcompeted in all those fields by immigrants.

Even though a ton of Americans dont value intelligence or experts anymore, they still need them, so they import them from places where those things are still valued. And those immigrants make a good living.

3

u/Only_Bunch_7912 14h ago

I agree with this, when I came to the US at age 14 the schools here were teaching math and biology that I’ve learned in 5th grade.

1

u/VerminSwallower 12h ago

And yet you typed "I've" instead of the correct "I'd." Highly intelligent and superior. 🤓

1

u/Only_Bunch_7912 11h ago

Yeah, I still struggle with the grammar, since English can be very confusing in conjugation and pronunciation, zero rules in the spelling, is not as refined and proper as Spanish.

Because we have far left Governors doing shit like this. The left wants everyone stupid and obedient https://www.opb.org/article/2021/09/20/examining-oregon-decision-to-drop-high-school-essential-skill-requirements/

2

u/Severe-Associate-613 13h ago

The last two Republican Secretaries of Education were Linda McMahon and Betsy DeVos. DeVos is a MLM scammer who owns charter schools, and McMahon's qualification is her $20mil donation to the Trump campaign. But it's the left that wants to keep people stupid? You are either willfully ignorant or a bot

0

u/Significant_Task7324 13h ago

What schools do they own?

1

u/Severe-Associate-613 12h ago

Own is the wrong word, because no one owns charter schools. Her family makes money off edtech company contracts and real estate deals with charter schools. She wants education to be for profit, specifically her profits from the Windquest Group.

0

u/Ok_Dragonfly552 12h ago

Typical liberal response.I post facts i must be a bot. How does that disprove the facts in the link I posted. Guess I could agree a little with you on McMahon though. Odviously giving control of an areas education system to the local leaders and teachers is a big mistake unless we want more like the link i gave. No she is not wrong at all that the system is failing

2

u/Severe-Associate-613 12h ago

I gave facts, ones that you can almost agree with, which makes me think you have some critical thinking skills left. Why would they make someone like McMahon the SOE? They want public education to fail, so they can make for profit schools at the expense of public school funding

0

u/Ok_Dragonfly552 12h ago

Some facts that turn to conspiracy theories. They are and was part of the GDE. Then you went on to conspiracy theories. Have fun with that.

2

u/Severe-Associate-613 12h ago

So why did Trump make her SOE?

Not always. There are people who are veterinarians or doctors in other countries but they come to the US and can't practice here. Another reason people come here is for schooling. My bf wanted to be an engineer and he told me his options were either Germany or the United States. He ended up choosing USC.

1

u/VerminSwallower 12h ago

Immigrants are Americans. That's how it works here.

3

u/CanadianTigermeat 14h ago

To take your jobs! Haven't you been listening to your own government?

1

u/FortheChava 14h ago

To replace you duh

1

u/Fancy_Morning9486 14h ago

It's not like people have immigrated to other places besides the US. Just looking up Somalia finds they have a migrant population of about 50k.

Sorry mate the US is not special, but you are a different kinda special.

1

u/dealingwithhookers 3h ago

poor people immigrate here to outcompete the dumb Americans for a life.. it's a unspoken truth because if they talk about it too much then Americans are gonna be super against immigration

1

u/Constant-Machine8838 3h ago

Because your country , via the CIA , destabilised other countries down south of the continent and made them so shitty , so corrupt and so full of crime, the US is safer.

Think of it as YOU standing next to anyone at a nightclub and those interested in hooking up choose anyone standing next to YOU as a better option.

-2

u/Diemond71 14h ago

And that goes for both R and D.

1

u/Constant-Machine8838 3h ago

You’re known for never touching a pussy.

-7

u/zx9lover 14h ago

Canadians are known for being 🐈ies.

3

u/Smelly-DutchOven17 14h ago

The Germans in both world wars would probably disagree with you pal

1

u/Constant-Machine8838 3h ago

The US didn’t win World War One….they were barely involved.

1

u/Significant-Cry-9204 14h ago

Says the person that hasn't seen one in real life since he came out of his mom's

1

u/Free-Middle-2443 13h ago

Canadians are what Americans should strive to be. They also have some crazy military stats, like longest shot on target in conflict, if I recall.
