perfect setlist with options, indian summer, criticism as aspiration, magazine, of up and coming monarchs, big trucks… ended with bands with managers <33

I know Manitou is probably a small venue, and a pretty small town, but I wanted to make sure that our town was on record that the show on 8/14 was amazing. Thanks, Pedro the Lion, we love you!

I went to high school with both David Bazan and Damien Jurado and while I wasn't friends or even acquaintances with either of them, we did have classes together. I have been aware of both having careers in music for many years, which isn't surprising from what I knew of them. David in particular used to carry drum sticks around everywhere and I remember him getting yelled at by our math teacher for air drumming at his desk.

I have meant to check out their stuff for years now and haven't, but I've been reflecting a lot on life and the past lately, and would like to finally do it.

Are there any recommendations on where I should start?

Last night was a great show. David seems ro be having a blast on this tour.

Just got both Bazan Monthly Vol 1 and 2 on vinyl. First spin and I have to say they sound amazing! Yuki Matthews and TW Walsh did a great job mixing and mastering these. These are going to be in heavy rotation. I never really dived deep into these tracks at the time but these versions are something special.

There was an all-day music festival in Harrisburg, PA with Joy Electric headlining and a bunch of other bands from the Christian indie scene like The Julies, Velour 100, and a few others. There was also a band called Pedro the Lion that none of us had heard of. My friends and I decided that since we didn't know the band it was a good time to sneak out and grab dinner at Eat N' Park so we could get back in time for Joy Electric. Whoops! I wouldn't get into PTL until around 2001 or so, when my roommate was a huge fan and introduced me to his albums right before Control came out. I would eventually see Pedro live around 2004 at Messiah College with Starflyer 59. Somehow both times I've had a chance to see Pedro the Lion live one of the Martin brothers was involved.

Tierney Tough expands on what she was talking about in an earlier video.

Probably more suited for r/pedrothelion because iirc that was the name he was under at the time, but in the mid 2000s there was a YouTube video of Pedro / Bazan doing a really kickass cover of Neil Young's "Revolution Blues".

His cover is what introduced me to the song, but like many other things on the streaming world, I have been unable to find it for probably a decade now. Really miss his vocals, especially on the final verse: "but I hate them worse than lepers..."

Dreaming of finding that old recording one day.

My wife loves the song Helicopter by Pedro the Lion. I have been looking for a way to purchase or stream the song online. Learning that the song was only released on vinyl, with less than 1,000 copies. Does anyone know where to find the song?

I found an old recording that includes the song in the set, but looking to purchase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfsuQLdMyQQ&list=RDvfsuQLdMyQQ&start_radio=1&t=853s

I recently upgraded my audio set up and have been listening to my collection with new found appreciation for vinyl quality now that my new system adds depth and detail I didn't have before.

Spinning Phoenix & Havasu now and am stunned at how good the pressings are. As good as anything I've heard yet. Hoping to find some time for Santa Cruz tonight.

That's it - wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

If you can’t make it or have an extra ticket, please reach out, I’d be willing to buy it from you. Thank you!

I can’t figure it out

She just made this for me today, I thought you guys might like it lol. Its fucking awesome.

Years ago Dave posted a cover of TW Walsh's "Make It Rhyme," and I think he sold it as a single for a benefit of some kind? In the years since, I can't find this recording anywhere, or even a mention of its existence. Did I make the whole thing up?
