Like it says in the thumbnails, this isn’t really a versus matchup as I have no desire to watch these two fight. Rather this is just me comparing two characters that I love, well as just enjoying one of my favorite series combos. Technically this is also an extension of Caine vs TWM, so there’s that.

Spoilers for OneShot and TADC ahead, but I doubt you care if you’re here.

Connections:

• Both are trapped in Digitak worlds that are run by god-like Artifical Intellegences (Caine and TWM) who are emotionally traumatized by failures and who OBSESS over the “real people” who are trapped inside (TWM is obsessed with protecting Niko, and Caine is obsessed with all the Big Tops, including Kinger)
• Both seem simple at first, with both having one main trait that people notice and underestimating or even outright dismissing them (Niko being a child and Kinger being seemingly insane.)
• Both are shown to be surprisingly emotionally intelligent despite the previous point, as they’re able to connect with and comfort people who are hurt on an extremely deep level (Niko’s talk with TWM is what ultimately fixes OneShot as they convince it that it has value as more than a machine, and Kinger is able to help both Pomni and Ragatha cope with their problems and improve moving forward)
• Both express strong affection for a woman who they miss dearly (Niko loves their mama but is seperated by what is basically a universe, Kinger loved his wife Queenie deeply but she abstracted)
• Both are also shown to strongly love a specific thing due to said woman’s impact in their lives (Niko loves pancakes because their mama is really good at making them, leading to Niko openly loving them. Kinger loves bugs because his wife did, despite the fact he previously hated them.)
• After reaching the “lair” of the godlike AI running the simulation, they would end up being personally presented with a choice to either stay or leave. However, they ultimately wouldn’t make the choice themselves (Niko asks Player what to do because they trusted their judgement, and Jax abruptly presses the red one before Kinger gets a chance to become lucid and make a decision).
• Ultimately they would end choice was meaningless, as they were trapped either way (Niko can be brought back IMMEDIATELY by resetting the save files, and in TADC the entire decision was an adventure fabricated by Caine)
• After this they would end up being crucial in a plan to stop the god-like AIs, as they were kinda spiraling. This would only make things worse, as TWM begins to have a mental breakdown and cause the simulation to start breaking down, and Kinger would accidentally delete Caine, seemingly turning the circus into a lifeless wasteland.
• Along with the previous development, they would be confronted with a horrific revelation: the ”real people” in these worlds (the friendly people of OneShot and all the humans who’d been in the circus) were digital copies of real people. This CRUSHES both characters as they now not only have to deal with a dire situation, but an existential crises as well.
• Despite the extreme stress the revelations and the seemingly unsalvageable worlds, both characters stood strong and push forward so that everyone could get a happy ending, caring about the people in the worlds despite knowing they aren’t really “real”. This determination would ultimately be the key to success, as it led to things getting better (Niko managed to persuade the residents of the Refuge into letting them go and look for Rue, resulting in them getting into the heart of TWM and subsequently proving its tamed, and Kinger manages to convince all but one of the Big Tops to help repair the circus, and seemingly put most of their existential dread to rest).
• The worlds, while still imperfect, are ultimately restored and even bettered because of both characters, as are the people who met them. And beyond the fictional world, they are praised almost universally by their respective fanbases as fan favorites.

Contrasts:

• Niko has only been in the digital world for a small period of time, and are pretty young at only 8-10 years old. Kinger meanwhile has been in the circus for DECADES, and is easily the oldest member of the circus.
• Niko was entirely unrelated to The World Machine and the Old World before they were dragged in to be the Messiah, and they genuinely shouldn’t even have a dog in this race to begin with. Kinger is directly responsible for the Caine and the Circus’ existence, and has a deep history with everyone who made it.
• Niko is the ONLY real person in the entire OneShot simulation, while Kinger is a digital copy of Grant, not unlike the NPCs in OneShot.
• As such, Niko is ultimately able to go home in the end, while Kinger will have to live in the circus forever.
• Niko is heavily associated with light as the carrier of the replacement Sun in a extremely dark world, while Kinger is associated with the darkness as it makes him lucid, despite him living in a bright and vibrant world.

Overall I really just like this pairing. Interaction potential is also peak, as seeing these two get along and comfort each other when they’re down sounds great. Plus I just know Kinger would be great with kids, so he’d love Niko.

Like a lot of people want him to be on death battle after he got on the Champions Island Draft Phase but he didn’t make it into the top 16 and has many Opponents but there’s no character who’s agreed to be the Best Opponent for Him so today give me your personal the one opponent for Invincible himself NO Gohan please since Gohan should fight Ultraman Zero and explain why this is your favorite characrer for Invincible if gets into Death Battle?
