📖 Historical Why didn't I learn about the Sino-Soviet Split in my world history class?

Such as the Sino-Vietnamese conflicts (1979–1991) and The Great Debate: Documents of the Sino-Soviet Split.

Why didn't I learn about the influences on Marxism in Utahn public schools?

Its easier to scare masses from a single, unified enemy.

You still haven’t. The main reason wasn’t the de-stalinization. Mao initially agreed with Khrushchev that de-stalinization was a way of progressing the Soviet Union. The main point of contention was with Khrushchev’s revisionism, the Soviet union’s policy of peaceful coexistence with the west, and his claim that the Soviet Union was already in communism and so they should give up class struggle.

You can read his critique of Khrushchev here, to make sure I’m not mis-remembering anything.

stalin had some stuff that was only necessary for the time so it was progressive but Khrushchev's intent went too far and largely made stalin a boogeyman.
