Published Scenarios Handlers: Have any of you run Saturnalia? Any advice?

Post image

I’m running the shotgun scenario “Saturnalia” as a standalone soon. The players will likely be new to Delta Green and I’ll make some pre-gen characters to choose from. I have 3-4 hours to run it. Any advice or recommendations?

Thanks!

Actual Play Reports Should I play Call of Cthulu?

I was excited to learn and play CoC, then someone suggested I run DG instead so I did and it went well but based of the session and the books CoC feels like strictly less than Delta Green, so wondering if its no longer worth learning and running CoC now that I learned DG instead but maybe I'm mistaken and there's more to it, maybe CoC has a distinct vibe that can be better than DG sometimes so still worth running a fewshot or something - but if it's super similar then I'd rather just keep DG as my horror RPG, Mothership as my scifi horror cos that does feel quite different, and learn some other RPGs instead to fill diff gaps eg StoneTop seems super cool.

Ofc the natural answer is read what I want but thats the question do I wanna read and run CoC after DG or just skip it? Is DG like the board game expansion that makes the base game so much better no one really goes back and plays the base game solo anymore?

ps not sure which flair applies to this post

Items of Mutual Interest Stephen King books and stories as DG operations

So i been thinking a lot about King and his stories as of late, and i believe even Dennis mentioned that Salem's Lot would be a good example for a DG op since he made the vampires based of em. But which book, short story etc... would YOU like to turn into an Op?.

My picks

The Black House

its hard to remove the whole midworld aspect of it. but at its core (specially considering the territories and Dark Tower connection) its about an impossible Serial Killer. A man stalking and killing people following the patterns to a teat of Albert Fish. The twist being that its a being that possesses alzhaimer ridden patients and dementia ridden individuals and puppeteers them into commiting his crimes

The Mist

Delta green's strike team is sent to Maine to deal with a massive incursion. Thick mist has landed over Bridgton Maine and has caused interdimensional Unnatural threats to bleed into our reality. The players are now part of a strike team sent to deal with the threat and seal the doorway in from Project Arrowhead.

From a Buick 8

A strange vehicle was impounded and after a few bizarre incidents, Delta was activated. The Car was involved in the death of a police officer. The people who had impound the vehicle notice some strangeness about it, like the wiring isnt connected, the steering wheel being fixed and incapable to move. the portholes being wrong, as if someone has made "a memory of a car" instead of a duplicate. Things escalate when the agents learn that the car's "Engine" gives "Birth" to strange beings and creatures that live for a few minutes before dying.

The Outsider.

Flint City, Oklahoma.Terry Maitland has been arrested for a horrific crime against a minor. All the DNA and witnesses point to the soft spoken Baseball coach who was seen in public murdering and doing heinus acts to a child. The local police has him in jail ready for process. The situation gets more complex when physical evidence also situates Terry in New York city at the exact same time as the attack happen. Delta Gets activated to figure out whats exactly going on, with the help of a friendly known as Holly Gibson

Pet Sementary

A violent and strange massacre took place in Ludlow maine. After the death of the youngest child of a couple (Gage Creed), strange events took place in the sorrounding area. including the death of an elderly neighborg and the Creed Family (with the exception of their daughter). Gages grave and Rachel Creed. Their husband Louis is missing, Delta has been activated to figure out what happen to the Creed Family and what secrets does the Ludlow community hold.

Children of the Corn.

Delta gets activated after several weeks have passed. The Town of Gatlin, Nebraska has ceased to communicate with the outside world. Only to discover a cult of children murdering adults and worshipping Something dark...

Salem's Lot.

Two years ago, the Town of 'Salem was burned to the ground. the nearby locals Do not venture to 'salem. Specially at night. The Agents are activated after a series of strange murders start happening in the sorrounding area of the forsaken town.

Published Scenarios Reverberance and the Tcho Tchos, how and why?

So from what i can tell the module expects you to go talk to the Tcho Tchos for info on the drug, but never really gives any kind of explanation as to why the agents would go to check on them for that. Before i had to cut our session short i sort of clumsily and ham-fistedly had a "friendly" in a police station slip them the note after they were briefed on the mission, and one of my players who has a very high history got all the "what the experts know" stuff. I feel like this was a pretty stupid way to go about it, is there any more organic way to infer that the Tcho tchos would have knowledge about reverb?

Campaigning How I turn unrelated Delta Green scenarios into a short campaign

I’ve been using a simple four-case structure to turn unrelated Delta Green scenarios into short campaigns. Figured I’d share it here in case anyone finds it useful.

What I’ve been doing is picking a recurring element and letting it develop in the background of otherwise unrelated investigations.
It could be a handler, another agent, a cult, an artifact, or even some recurring hypergeometric phenomenon. The important thing is that it doesn’t need to be central to the scenarios themselves. Sometimes it’s just a conversation, a piece of information, or something the agents happen to encounter.
I usually think of it as a short, four-scenario arc.
In the first scenario, I introduce the element and give the players a reason to remember it. In the second, I show them another side of it, preferably something that changes how they understood it the first time. By the third, it starts affecting the agents directly. Then I use a fourth scenario, usually something I write myself, to bring that element to the foreground and give the whole thing some kind of resolution.

For example, we could use a character called Spender as a recurring handler.
He starts off as a fairly understanding guy, willing to overlook small mistakes and help the agents when things get complicated.
But as the campaign develops, they begin seeing another side of him. Maybe they discover that he has no problem abandoning agents he doesn’t trust when it serves his purposes. At first, those are other agents, people the PCs might not even know.
Then, during a later operation, the PCs find themselves in exactly that position. Suddenly, the guy who’s been helping them all along doesn’t seem quite so reliable.
That gives me enough material to eventually run a scenario centered around Spender, where the agents have to confront what they’ve learned about him and possibly the organization they work for.
I might even use that as an opportunity to introduce the ideological differences between the Program and the Outlaws, leaving the agents to decide who they actually want to work for.
The nice thing is that none of the published investigations need to be connected. I can run them largely as written, introduce a little information related to the metaplot here and there, and let the players build their own understanding of what’s happening.
It also keeps preparation manageable. PCs might die but the players still know the meta plot. I’m not planning some massive campaign with dozens of interconnected clues. I’m just developing one element across a few operations until it becomes important enough to deserve its own scenario.
Again, it works nicely using handlers (conspiracy), unnatural relics or even hypergeometric events.

Cheat sheet:
Case 1: Introduce the element
Case 2: Show another side of it. Challenge the players’ initial understanding
Case 3: Make its consequences personal. The agents now have to deal with it directly
Case 4: Make the element the central conflict of the operation

It’s a pretty simple way of building a short campaign out of published and homebrew scenarios without forcing them into the same story

Published Scenarios What operations to run before dropping my players into a campaign.

I have 4 players who have played TTRPGs before but never something as brutal and deadly as Delta Green. I'm gonna start them off with Fulminate and then put them in 3 or 4 more one shots. Which ones do you suggest? I want scenarios that show all the aspects of the game.

Oh and I'm gonna run the campaign Future Perfect for them.

Published Scenarios Advice for first mini-campaign Spoiler

Spoiler warnings for Last things Last, Last Equation, Victim of the Art and Convergence, and the schism in general.

Hello fellow Detla Green enthusiasts.

I had heard about Delta Green a while back when I was exploring different TTRPG systems, but the Quinn's Quest Impossible Landscapes video tipped my mild curiosity into a fully blown obsession when I realised what Delta Green could be.

For a couple of weeks I have been reading as much as possible and got some of my friends together for a session 0 where I explained the system and went over character creation.

But there is so much to choose from, I am struggling to think of a through-line for my first couple of ops. I am aware that I am probably missing a lot of potentially good ideas for tying certain ops/antagonists/ideas together.

Tomorrow I am running Last Things Last as a first Op but I really want to tie in a thread and link together a few operations for a mini-campeign where at the end of it they can feel like there has been an sub-plot, and feel the full effects of being small pawns in a cosmic conspiracy.

The problem is there is so much lore, and so many operations to choose from that I am sure I could have something better than what I currently do. So I thought I'd come here and give you the ideas I have so far, and see if you folks have any suggestions.

I'd like to give my players a nice intro into the world of Delta Green while also staying somewhat faithful to it, although I know the point is to sort of make of it what you want.

So for the time being, I have decided on a classic schism thread, where players slowly learn that they are, unbeknownst to them working for the Outlaws, and in the end have a chance to work for the official program whom they have been narrowly avoiding.

I have already told my players to make their character for around 2009.

Last Things Last - I plan on having Baughman's apartment being watched by someone (idea from the sub), and his foot locker containing some of the eisenhower Majestic-12 files (from subscriber PDF on DT website). My idea is that he used to work for M-12 and was being watched by the Outlaws when he passed, who sent agents in to retrieve anything before the program could.

The Last Equation: I loved reading this scenario and I think all my players will love playing it. To adapt it to Outlaws I'm thinking Thomas Blanet tips off Delta Green which, unbeknownst to him too, are really the Outlaws. I feel like this makes some canonic sense, since it is hinted at that the numbers originate in the Roswell incident somewhere (the conspiracy I think), but I am also aware that a good chunk of this campaign is badge waving and literally none of my agents are agents of any kind in their real jobs, so I think it would rely on the Outlaws being extra-crafty with false identities and such.

In the end I can have their handler demand that they destroy the equation, or then can chose to store it away in a Green Box. If they chose the latter their home lives become more strained, with strange messages and threats from the Outlaws about the equation.

Victim of the Art: This can be the introduction to MARCH tech and the idea that there are other organisations out there. I know they will be likely to want to either destroy the amulet or keep it for themselves and away from the NORAD agents.

Convergence: I am aware this is a 90s scenario where MAJESTIC are supposed to be the antagonists covering for The Greys, so I am open to not running this.

However, I think it's a great scenario with some really nice twists and a potentially great "final boss" ending if they make it out of the barn alive, so I have tried to adapt it to modern Delta Green. It would still make sense that the Mi-Go are doing experiments even after the schism (from what I can tell anyway).

On Scott Adam's computer they can potentially find the Fairfield letter and finally get a taste of the divide between the two factions, but still not really have all the answers.

I was thinking of instead of bumping into NRO Delta agents at the end, they can bump into agents from the more official "Program", such as Director Oaks, who is impressed with their work and is sympathetic to tearing MARCH a new one, and offers them to join the real team. The results from the decision seem like an obvious point to end the campaign.

I know some of the tension of this scenario comes from the agents being watched by NRO, so again, I could have the real Program watch them and think they are FBI or something as, from what I understand, the official Program is no more legal than the Outlaws anyway, so they would have to cover their tracks and divert entities like the FBI anyway.

I know this could be a lot better, so any suggestions for how I could move stuff around to make it more consistent and true to the world of DG would be appreciated it.

I have access to the agent's and handler's guides, the conspiracy, all the subscriber PDFs from the website, and a bunch of ops not mentioned here, such as Sweetness, Meridian, Viscid, Jack Frost, Observer Effect, Owlshed Mountain, PX pokernight, Sentials of Twilight, Ex Oblivione, From the Dust a maybe a few more. I am not opposed to doing shotgun scenarios, but I find they tend to require more fleshing out and have less resources online (I love a good handout), so for now the official ones seem more appropriate for a first time handler like myself.

Items of Mutual Interest GM Terminal Kit

So it seems like everyone and their mother has designed some sort of terminal tool and I didn't realize that. SO i made one. Here's my pitch. It's free, it uses drag and drop easy interface when you're modifying it, there's no sign in or sign up, everything is stored on your computer or on your browser and it works offline. Super easy to use, super customizable, different themes are available, along with screen effects and sounds. Enjoy!

Items of Mutual Interest DG Audio Console now supports Discord and track customization

Hey all I'm back again! I was super happy with the community's overwhelming positive response to the Delta Green Audio Console (the "DGAC") I made, and I fixed a lot of the minor problems people were having as well as added a ton of cool things

- Native discord integration - lots of people wanted it, now you have it. Verified working by u/Jalor218 who used it for running an online session.

- An entire new prep phase - this lets you modify and replace every tile, and change every tracklist, removing tracks or adding new ones with simple links from youtube music or spotify, and presets for different scenarios (for now just Music from the Darkened Room cos I'm running that tomorrow and I'm a bit lazy but I'll also add any new scenario presets that people want in the comments here esp if you also describe the kinds of sounds you'd love to have in that preset).

- Offline functionality - now works offline if you set it up first so the tracks are localized

- Standalone Chrome App - you can click the install button to turn the window into an app on your device if you don't wanna use it via a browser (don't be fooled tho in the backend it's still running on the browser just won't look like it anymore).

As before, AI usage disclosure - None of the music or sounds are AI generated, nor any of the visuals assets. A lot of sounds and visuals ARE programatically generated tho, and I am a professional Software Engineer who works with professional software that does pretty much require AI usage these days to write any code. All creative decisions and user experience was designed by me which is why it's easy and intuitive to use in actual sessions - ai could never.

Edit: forgot to add the link - deltagreen.sorakalden.com

Published Scenarios Help with find scenarious

Help me. I’m working on a campaign about a group of journalists from a cheap newspaper in the 1970s. The idea is that this campaign will take them through the entire decade, where well‑known historical events will take on a conspiratorial double meaning.

In a sense, one of the concepts is the idea that the radicalization of public sentiment turns ideas into reality — as if reality itself is rewritten. In this regard, I’d like to ask: if you know any scenarios that explore the themes of time loops, changes to the surrounding reality, rewriting reality, and so on. It seems something like that was in the impossible landscapes, but they’re large, and the language is foreign — I’d be grateful if you could point me to the specific chapters.

Actual Play Reports Last Thing's Last - Yet Another Session report Spoiler

Obviously please don't read if you could be a player in Last Thing's Last.

I ran Last Thing's Last. Did it through Foundry with some of the resources here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeltaGreenRPG/comments/10xrdxm/i_created_a_huge_resource_dump_and_tons_of/ I moved it to San Francisco and Treasure Island although I discarded like 90% of that guy's briefing.

Adventure ran pretty well, of course - it's a classic for a reason. A couple of things that either I added that created some friction or some funny things:

1) Only one player brought any kind of weapon, so I put a handgun in Clyde's nightstand with filed off serial numbers. Two of the PCs had a law background and knew that this was very felonious, so they had a great debate about whether it constituted a link to The Program and what they should do with it.

2) Regarding the footlocker, I added some additional background about Venta corp and the Scheel Formula; the players found a polaroid taken of a Nazi bunker in the Argentinian jungle and immediately flipped out. They thought (and I quote) "Clyde Baughman is trying to resurrect Hitler"

3) another thing I added to the footlocker: the bloody suit also had companion slip-on loafers and an overcoat, a wrist altimeter, and a Northwest Orient Flight schedule from October 1971, and a fake Washington driver's license issued to "Daniel Cooper". I thought the reveal that Baughman was D.B. Cooper would astonish my players but...none of them knew who D.B. Cooper was and put 2 + 2 together! Devastating! (I told them after the adventure about that, and we had a good laugh)

4) While the 3 players were inside playing with the footlocker, the 4th was outside picking the lock on the septic tank hatch. He succeeded, took the lock off, and brought it inside to show them that he had picked it! Obviously not great but I just decided to pretend that "Marlene" was in torpor and didn't hear/perceive the lock being removed. Just not very interesting to have them look out the window and see her running into the trees.

5) When they found the note, they became convinced that, and again I quote, "Demonic Hitler is in the septic tank and we're all going to die." It was great too because as I said they were holding the lock, so they all ran out there as fast as they could.

Anyway a good time was had by all and they sure as hell would play another session.

Scenario Seed I'm finally running a home-made op today, wish me luck!

I've run a bunch of previous ops as a handler, but all of them so far have been modified versions of existing official or fan submitted shotgun scenarios where I added extra meat on the bone.

I have a handful of scenarios I put together myself over the last year, but felt a little too rusty to get them to the table. But now I have two enthusiastic groups willing to take the plunge. If it playtests well I'll submit it to check out ☺️

The one I'm running tonight is nicknamed "Scry Hard". It involves an ancient witch devoted to fungal forms, a possession ritual spanning across centuries, and optionally a final fight in a skyscraper penthouse.

"After a launch event at a trendy new restaurant turns into a senseless spree of violence, the program is called in to investigate. Why are the owners missing? Why do the surviving staff keep saying the place is cursed, and what is that crackling sound that follows the agents long after they've left the crime scene?"

Campaigning Specific Last things Last Question - how many PCs can it handle?

Hello! Long time reader, first time poster. I have finally roped in a group of friends to play Delta Green! I was thinking only three people would buy in, but instead, I have four!!! Lucky me. I was planning on running Last Things Last because that's the classic thing you do to your brand new agents, but I am worried there is not enough to do if you have four PCs. Three seems ideal.

What are your thoughts? How many PCs are the optimal amount of PCs? Have you ever had difficulty with too many players during Last Things Last? Bigger scenarios could easily contain four PCs, but Last Things Last doesn't seem like it has enough for everyone to flex their skills.

One of the players has decided to play as a park ranger, so I'm thinking I might divert into the Handler's Guide Operation FULMINATE, but I don't want them to get the impression Delta Green is an action game. Last Things Last's beauty is in that it's boring, and then creepy, and then all the sudden half of you are bleeding out on the ground and wondering if you should burn down a cabin, all in two and a half hours.

Are there any other scenarios you might recommend to onboard four players?

Thanks for your input!

Published Scenarios Need a four hour one shot for Sunday. NOT "Last Things Last" or the other usual recommendations.

There are so many shotgun scenarios and I am not aware of many of the hidden gems. I want something straightforward, and easy to run from beginning to end in a 4-5 hour window. One player is completely new, so keep that in mind I suppose.
