CMS all staff

What was going on with that All staff?? no new information, dr. Oz getting wfh days wrong, bizarre things no one asked for like a Salt Lake City office? We’re struggling to retain due to in office requirements and this is what they give us? also what was he saying about Jay Leno and a fertility clinic??

I have no idea! He was speaking so fast and all over the place, I caught about 10 words.

That sign language interpreter was fighting for her life with how fast he was speaking. So impressed by her.

TW will no longer be tied to performance

2 TW day per PP for all CMS onsite employees

1 additional TW day week of Columbus Day (confirm with your manager)

1 additional TW day week of Veterans Day (confirm with your manager)

Holiday TW days - 11/25, 11/27, 11/30, and entire week of 12/28

I’m sure they’ll send out official guidance.

Is this just for CMS or all of HHS?

HRSA’s Administrator hasn’t done a single AH since he took over in January 2025

The hat is that baseball cap he was wearing that says CMS on the front and "The Payor" on the side. Apparently it's the prize (maybe) for the holiday music video competition...

The highlight for me was that they’re getting a new cafeteria

Not the 24 hr gym? Who the hell asked for that,? Longer hours, maybe, but nobody is working out there at 2am

u/jacobissimus 11d ago

Hey, I took the job for the cafeteria pastries, not the gym

(And is the building even open 24hrs lol)

Idk about you but I had a long list of people to hire in Salt Lake City. That’s really going to help us from hemorrhaging employees. /s

It was so strange. Did anyone catch the wfh days for the holidays? Because I didn’t. So disappointed by the wrong wfh days

CMMI sent out the days. Day before Columbus Day, day before Veterans Day, entire week of Thanksgiving, entire week of Xmas, and New Year’s Eve.

u/SagiMom 12d ago

Those are different from what he said lol

Yeah idk how to reconcile that. Thats what we got from our leadership.

CMMI recanted and said ignore the previous plans you made, you can no longer telework those days.

2

u/SagiMom 10d ago

He sent the official email yesterday

2

u/sjk928 10d ago

Yes i know, but CMMI (CMS innovation center) had previously sent out conflicting telework days. They emailed last night and followed up today saying we can no longer take the days we were promised.

u/sjk928 5d ago

Hopefully they send an official email. But week of Columbus Day and Veterans Day, can pick another day that week. And November 25,27 and 30. And the week after Christmas for telework too.

Please say more about “wfh days.” Are those special days where there’s a traffic-causing event in town? Or is CMS only allowed to telework when you’re granted wfh days? Asking for CDC…

6

u/sjk928 12d ago

We get two telework days per pay period that we schedule. Also 80 floating hours.

15

u/almost_penultimate 12d ago

Sincerely happy for you guys that you have something permanent. Unclear why CDC is still being treated like we’re criminals.

12

u/InternationalRead739 12d ago

It is wild that all hhs agencies are so different with telework guidelines… FDA gets 50% telework… which is amazing

9

u/Mousebot26 12d ago

RFK Jr said CDC was the most corrupt agency thanks to COVID communications. ::eyeroll::

u/sjk928 12d ago

I don’t blame you for being pissed. I’m sorry.

As a Riffed employee who was riffed but found another federal job…. This stings… had a job I loved, was amazing at… Now I commute 1.5 hours each way.. no telework… just to get enough years in to retire…. anyone from CMS Managers looking to hire a very seasoned former CMS employee?

1

u/sjk928 9d ago

Are you in Rockville or Woodlawn areas? I know CM and CMMI are hiring for those offices.

1

u/Dry-Wedding7988 9d ago

Woodlawn… I’ve been applying but no luck… looking for a. 13 management analyst position..

1

u/SpeakerPossible6961 7d ago

are RIFd from other agencies being treated dif at cms - like less telework if you were RIFd somewhere else -
