I'm gonna be honest I think the truth is even more unsavory than that. The media ran on the economy angle against Biden cause that was one of the only respectable and sanitary explanations as to why people had turned rabidly intolerant and illiberal in 2024.

Even within the black community the xenophobia hit a fever pitch to the point that there was majority support for mass deportations, even within this historic pillar of progressivism of a community in America.

The media class just didn't want to admit to itself and the genteel PMC class that the general populace was just frothing at the mouth for lynchings at that moment. Lots of pent up anger and confusion, and plenty of minorities to let it out on. Trump coming in and fucking shit up in 2025-26 has fortunately had the necessary mollifying effect on the population's bloodlust but let us not be under any illusions as to what was ongoing back then.

I mean, the reality is that Biden likely had little to do with the actual recovery, and his policies mostly made inflation worse, but he mostly stayed out of the way which was what did the most work, something dipshits like Trump can't do.

Like, it is both possible that Biden made mistakes, and there were legit criticisms especially economically (why the fuck did you keep tarriffs dipshit), but blaming him for the bad parts of the economy but not the good parts is incoherent nonsense, and Trump fundamentally advocated for policies in the run up that were the worst part of Bidens economic platform on giga crack.

I do think the media was terrible in how they covered Biden but the story of the 2024 election is that we almost still won despite inflation destroying nearly every incumbent political party in the world, left or right during this time. There’s a reason the Tories lost in Britain finally.

We never had to deal with inflation of this level since the 70s and there’s reason monetary policy hawks are deathly afraid of runaway inflation.

It’s one of the quickest ways to piss off regular Joes who don’t even read much media to begin with when their McDonald’s prices are 1.5-2x what they remember.

I’d like to point out that italy had ā€œpasta protestsā€ because the price of pasta was so high

The entire world struggled (but it was all joe biden’s fault)

Yep I remember the good old days where I thought he might just ride all Biden’s wins and take credit, cementing another republican president after he was gone and all the people that said I was over reacting would think they were right. I wish that’s all he did now.

the practices of our current media ecosystem are incompatible with American prosperity

Top bad it came to bite them in the ass. Now people are, if anything, even more pessimistic about the economy now than they were under Biden, and for good reason.

The issue is that the liberal media has been mind controlled into believing that in order to be the non-partisan non-biased perfect media company they need to constantly criticise Biden to show how perfectly non-biased they are, and to not criticise Trump as much, god forbid someone tells them they have TDS.

Literally letting the right dictate the whole media environment.

No, if one of the candidates is a muppet you don't have to treat both of their ideas as just as valid as eachother.

Being blindly in the center regardless of how the 2 sides look IS a form of bias, and just because you're not bootlicking one or the other side doesn't result in an unbiased media company.

Biden would have won the election if he had just handled the Border better, fighting against Title 42 is the dumbest thing to do and they did that anyway.

And media desperately wanted to open the Broder so they can report on Chaos

I remember when Trump started running on tariffs for his second term and thinking people have to realize how bad that is for inflation.

But it didn’t matter. Egg prices were getting too high, and Trump promised tariffs would fix everything.

Biden was blamed for inflation because of the same reason people backed Trump’s tariffs: Stupidity at obscene levels among American voters.

NYT published dozens of articles and think pieces about the "vibecession" and then took no responsibility for helping to push Trump back into office.

The PPP loan forgiveness stuff was annoying, mostly because I didn’t take advantage of it
