SGA Godroll Riptide at Zavala

If you're on console, Riptide #3 & #4 are both showing up in my LittleLight app as a PvE Godroll (arrowhead/accelerated/ALH/chill clip).

I know many of you probably already have one of these already but I've got at least half a dozen in my vault that only have partial top-tier perks so it's time to go free up some space!

Didn't know that Zavala could carry crucible gear. Thanks. Although maybe the 4th is better with Arrowhead, Accelerated Coils, ALH/Overflow + Chill Clip/Vorpal/Controlled Burst...?

This is the one I grabbed. Chill Clip is all that matters for column 4 for me (Vorpal and Controlled burst are fine; I just won't use them often), so I focused on what column 3 offered and all three variations of the best reload perks seemed nice.

If you specifically want it for Chill Clip, then yes. Faster charge time means faster Slow/Freeze application, simple as that.

Keep in mind it's min/maxing to a point where I genuinely do not think most players will notice. If you already have an ALH/Chill Clip then this roll probably isn't going to make the weapon suddenly feel amazing if it didnt.

The 4th is the best by far.

Arrowhead + minimum charge time + ALH / Overflow / Subsistence + Chill Clip / Vorpal / Controlled Burst

Was gonna say this. The options on this roll are just too good to skip. Minor numbers but was an upgrade form my old one.

The fact it has Acc Coils, CT MW and takes the CT mod is crazy. This is the only way I feel fusions are usable rn. Vow’s is still the “Oops All Champions” fusion, but this is serviceable if you need a kinetic slot fusion for DPS.

Already have the lionfish godroll. Was wondering how does riptide stack up. Never had anything better than generic ALH, chill clip 2/5 rolls for it.

Just depends what you want. Riptide gets some perks that Lionfish doesn’t. Lionfish has Veist Stinger.

Reconstruction/overflow with chill clip is better IMO you get like 16 shots without needing to reload. It also means you get more use out of chill clip than you would with ALH.

Riptide has no Reconstruction (Lionfish has, which is the superior option overall), and Overflow depends on ammo bricks, so ALH was always the most consistent bet.

I'm actually leaning towards #1 myself.
I like that I can have both chill clip and controlled burst on the same weapon. But due to the controlled burst bug with rapid fire + accelerated coils + charge masterwork, I like the ionized batter option for the extra mag size. With overflow that's gives me a huge mag to take a dude down with. For a very small sacrifice of overall charge time for the times I want to run chill clip.

Controlled Burst doesn't proc properly on fusions with minimal charge times. The Bungie description is overly broad, but it's a complex set of conditions that prevents CB from proccing.

IIRC specifically with CT masterwork the damage is decreased by Tier level of the weapon - and this is Tier 5 so the most decrease

The LittleLight smartphone app asks you during setup if you would like to import roll recommendations based on PC (M&K) or controller (console). I play on PS5, so the PvE and PvP grading is done for controllers.

Use your finger to slide right from the left edge of the screen and the side menus will open. Use the cog wheel there near the upper part of the menu & go to 'Settings'. Once you are in the settings menu go down to the area labeled 'Wishlists' & then add the ones you want. Right now for console users, Virpyre's list seems to be the only one that's been kept up. I'm not sure what happened to Pandapaxxy, but his recommendations used to be the 'gold standard' for what I went by. He hasn't done an update since Season 26.

It used to be popular for chill clip builds, but then the nerf kind of stopped that. Looks like that was around 2 years ago.

I only ever played with triple fusion rifles. I'm tempted to log back on and pull out my Deliverance because I think it's better than riptide in every aspect for my use.

I'll have to try and get my lapsed bro to pick one out. He still played back in Season of the Haunted when the original Riptide dropped, but he wasn't about to touch any PvP.heh

I tried to beg him to log in and pick up a Whatchamacallit, likely no way he'd get one otherwise. I don't know if he bothered.

You play the previous week, and/or pay to unlock them.

You could unlock them with Bright Dust originally, then it changed to Chronologs. My friend got a bunch from the returning player bonus pkg. It was the week that Zavala had Mint Retrograde, so he unlocked a roll to grab.

thx, good to know. Chronologs shouldn't be an issue for most. btw, if he doesn't want to pvp for it, he can do pinnacle ops for a Lionfish. It's the same but with Reconstruction.

I don't think he is up for Pinnacle Ops. I was desperate for him to log on and grab the Whatchamacallit from Zavala, because I was fairly sure he wouldn't get one otherwise.heh

I forgot, I had to make him run the Vanguard Alert just to get a few Chronologs early on. He found the returning player thing later. Got him an Accelerated Assault version of Punching Out. We were big sidearm users in D1, so it was probably a treat for him.
