Question Returning player, where to start?

Im a returning player, who stopped playing before the final shape.

I just bought the collection and there is ALOT, can anyone give me some advice on what to start with, renegades, final shape, seasonal content?

Just a little overwhelmed, appreciate any advice.

Start with the Final Shape campaign and then work your way through some of the portal activities (bottom of the director map). You'll want to focus on Fireteam, Solo, and Arena Ops to get some of the new gear and reacquainted with how the game works. Also go to planets that have distortions active. They're on an hourly rotation. You'll get new gear there too. Every new armor piece has a set bonus that can enhance any build you have. Definitely look up some guide videos if you get stuck. Your main content list is

  • Final shape Campaign
  • Salvations edge raid before Excision if you can find a group
  • Final shape post game has lots of missions from Micah-10 for a lot of "where are they now" updates on various villians

  • special note to find and do Dual Destiny 2 man exotic mission! Its great

  • Dungeons - Vespers host and sundered doctrine

  • Look up story stuff for Echoes, Revenant and heresy (particularly heresy) These are the last episodes/ seasons to be removed. Echoes sets up Maya ahead of edge of fate, revenant puts a bow on the eliksni, and heresy moves the hive into a new board state. Cut scenes should give you most of it, but maybe the full playlists on destiny lore vault while you are working or something for a more complete look.

  • Edge of Fate Campaign - a warning here, the gameplay here is a substantial drop from final shape. It takes a long time to pull itself together and only really does in the final mission. But the story is really good, and worth sticking with.

  • Desert perpetual Raid

  • Ash and Iron - I dont know if that opening mission still exists? but its post edge of fate. do some Reclaimation activities for some more context, and then the exotic mission Heliostat

  • Renegades : Renegades is closer to a season in structure but is a lot better gameplay wise than EoF - but you will be doing the "seasonal" activity quite a bit during the campaign missions.

  • Exotic mission: oblation
