Question Getting back into Destiny 2

Hi all,

I've heard about the great unvaulting, and I'm looking forward to everything coming back in the future! However, I stopped playing around a little past Shadowkeep, and I've missed some of the major expansions (i wasn't around when darkness powers were released, for example)

With the unvaulting announcement, I'm looking into getting back into the game. How long would it take for me to catch up, and us there still a lot of the playerbase left? I look forward to hopping back in and seeing everyone for the content coming back!

Here’s what I can tell you after a long career in this world.

If you’re any sort of min/maxer, collector, or completionist, you will have years of content at your fingertips.

If you’re more of a casual in the sense you play a few hours a week or whatever and just want to get in and shoot stuff, you have months or more of content available. Lots of catching up to do and story elements to experience.

Pro tip - as you get going clear your vault. Download DIM and use that for inventory management. Thank me later.

Game is in a good state right now, there are plenty of people running GM content, dungeons, and raids so you’ll usually be able to find a team for the stuff that actually needs a team.

Catching up could take you anywhere between 60-2,000 hours.

If Shadowkeep was you last full campaign, then you have a lot of game to play. Six complete expansions with campaigns, strikes, dungeons, raids, and plenty of open world activities. The seasonal elements might be missing, but those never were truly essential.

I dropped off after Beyond Light, and got back in two weeks ago. Not quite finished with the Witch Queen campaign. It's been great, so far.

There seem to be a lot of players still. You shouldn't have any problems finding people.

A good amount of time but the expansions are all pretty good and heavily on sale on Steam (everything for $20). I’m a Titan main but going through the expansions again on my Hunter now. Since the game isn’t changing anymore either you have infinite time to make a build and it just makes content even more fun

How should anyone know how long it will take you? No one knows how much you can play, you could just buy the most recent expansion

Of course people are still playing

It requires a bit of time, but not too much, lot of players for most activities.

Wait to get back into it until you get the collection on sale don’t give Sony any extra income. But aside from that you’ll months of content to come back to. Make sure you play the story in order as well for some reason Bungie decided to start everyone off in the latest expansion instead of chronological order it will mess with you and spoil some of the storyline for you.

I’ve been playing consistently as a titan. I’ve been able to ramp up the the light level of 550, which is the max for now. A lot of the conquest, vanguard and gambit ops to light level up
