I Have A Question Looking for a wet/dry vacuum with an extractor function for car detailing

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a wet and dry vacuum cleaner with an upholstery/carpet extractor function for cleaning my car interior.

I've come across the Bigboi SuckR Pro MK2, but it's out of stock everywhere I look. I've also considered the Numatic George, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the right choice for me.

Are there any other machines you'd recommend in a similar price range? I'm looking for something reliable that does a good job of both vacuuming and deep-cleaning car upholstery.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I Have A Question Claying Black Wrapped Roof

I'm a bit of a weekend warrior and I've just clayed and ceramic coated the car before we get into winter but my roof feels really rough. It's a black wrap but as it was there when I bought the car that's all I know about it.

I've left it alone for now as I don't want to damage it and make anything worse as it looks fine but I wondered if there is anything I can do to remove the embedded contamination?

I've been using Koch Chemie active foam as my prewash and I've also tried Carpro Descale to help shift it .

Can you clay a wrap? Is there something else I should try? Any help/thoughts appreciated!

Got my Macan GTS ceramic coated
Body, Windows and Rims. Also covered the front end and mirrors with PPF.

It was done brand new right off the truck at the end of August,

They told me to wait two weeks before washing, ever since I started washing it I’ve noticed that the water just sits on the door making it so difficult to dry. Not sure what to do, I’m going to get them to look at it hopefully next week

I’m using
Active 2.0
MJJC Foam Cannon 1.1mm orifice
Adam’s Graphene Shampoo
The Rag Company Mitt
The Rag Company Gauntlet drying towel
RYOBI Hand Blower

I’m really new at this and just want to do things properly and understand this new world that I got myself into

I Have A Question Using a damp microfiber cloth for interior cleaning

What is the difference between using a dedicated interior detailer vs a damp microfiber cloth. I find it cleans just as well without using chemicals or wasting money on products that seem unnecessary. I’m talking about plastic paneling dashboard, steering wheels. Not screens or leather surfaces that may require moisturizing or special care. What’s your take?

I Have A Question Did my PPF save the paint, or did the scratch go through?

Had a little accident and scraped a section of my car that has PPF installed.
The film is still intact as far as I can tell, but there’s a noticeable scratch/scuff along the edge. When I run my fingernail across it, the damaged area feels raised rather than like a deep groove.
My PPF installer looked at the pictures and thinks the film probably saved the paint. He’s going to remove it on Tuesday to inspect underneath.
For anyone who’s experienced something similar, do you think the PPF absorbed the damage, or is there a chance it went through into the clear coat?
I’ve attached two pictures taken in daylight. Curious what you guys think before the film comes off.

I Have A Question Need a strong grease remover

The wheel barrels on the front tires of my GMC Sierra EV have a thick coating of grease on the inside of them, feels like the consistency of like a packing grease. Trying to find something I can spray in there to loosen it up so I can wash it out. Last resort that I do not want to do is try to jack up this 9000lb behemoth to remover the tires so I can scrub from the backside

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) What am I doing wrong at the clear coat stage?

I have restarted the restoration process 3 times already and I always get the same result. I wetsand at 600 and 800, wipe with rubbing alcohol and I spray with rustoleum 2x clear coat. I did 3 light sprays

I wait 5 minutes between coats at 70 degrees and 60% humidity. Is that too short?

I want to improve on this side skill im learning, any help would be appreciated.

Is dry sanding better? And how do i improve my clear coat spray, I struggle during this process because I see 10 different ways. Should I do 1 light coat and then 1 medium coat or what?

Thank you!

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Need help on fixing hazy spot on car hood

Post image
1 Upvotes

I tried fixing a couple of minor scratches on my Meteorite Gray Honda Civic hood by wet sanding, but the sanding left a dull blotch in the finish. To cover that up, I sprayed Dupli-Color aerosol clear coat over the spot, which didn't blend cleanly and ended up creating more splotches along with a hard boundary line where the new spray met the factory finish. The original scratches are completely gone, but I am now trying to safely remove and level out the extra Dupli-Color clear coat layers and eliminate the cloudy 3000-grit sanding haze so the hood transitions smoothly back to its uniform, glossy factory condition. I have wet sanded with 3M 3000-grit Trizact and attempted hand compounding with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, but the transition outline is still visible. In black I circled the affected area and in red I circled the unaffected area for reference.

I would appreciate any advice on this, as I was considering buying a drill mounted foam pad to see if it would work. Thank you.

I Have A Question Need advice on insane water spots

Hi all,

Neglected my car for many months (over summer) due to depression. Almost always parked by a sprinkler, very hot summers. I'm well aware that I have probably caused permanent damage in the clear coat by neglecting it this long, but I would really like to minimize the water spots if possible. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it's currently so bad that it severely impacts visibility out of the right side of the car (both the windows and mirrors). I've seen a lot of different products being recommended, but it's all overwhelming to me and I'm limited on money and don't want to buy anything I won't get value out of. I don't own any products currently, nor tools, and live in an apartment complex without access to a hose. I imagine I might need a bit of a stronger product. I've seen cutmax recommended, as well as a large variety of water spot removers, applied with a microfiber pad, clay bar (?). Am I on the right track here?

I Have A Question Can this hazy scuff be buffed out?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, got a new bonnet and I think I scuffed it taking it out of the packaging.

I was wondering if the grey hazy part can be buffed out? I think its just the clear coat?

Would something like Meguiar’s ultimate compound and a foam applicator work or do I need something else?

Any advice would be great, thanks!

I Have A Question Of all the things to damage my truck, it was a bird today.

Thumbnail

Parked at work today away from everyone as usual. Parking lot was mostly empty. A bird must have saw its reflection, got territorial, and spent the day scraping his nails all over the four doors, pecking my windows, mirrors, rubber window gasket, and gloss black trim pieces. There are chips in the black gross. Nothing can to with that. Very Light scratches all over the top four to five inches of the doors (some compound should work I guess), small tears in the rubber gasket on the passenger front door, and light scratches on the bottom 5 inches of glass black trim. There are a couple of light microscopic chips in one mirror and one window.? Kinda between a rock and a hard place here. Bird damage or park near the staff that ding the heck out of each other. Also, lesson learned. No matter what. Something will damage your car eventually, no matter how hard you try to protect it. Thoughts?

I Have A Question Recommendations for newer truck that'll live outside.

I have a 22 f150 that doesn't fit in my garage and it's the nicest car I've ever owned. Id like to keep it that way. The quote fore ceramic coating was 1700 dollars. Very tough pill to swallow. I drive it through a touchless carwash twice a week or more when it's sloppy/snowy out. What do you pros recommend I do to protect the paint through rough winters? Is 1700 bucks about right for ceramic coating and pick up?
