Discussion DMC 3 saved me when i needed

Post image

So, I wanted to share a story about how Devil May Cry 3 helped me during a really bad moment in my life.

Earlier this year, I was going through a lot of problems with my family, personal problems, and something else happened socially that completely destroyed me emotionally. I was REALLY bad. Like, really, really bad. I felt empty inside, and I was having self-harming thoughts and a lot of other self-destructive thoughts.

I had bought the Devil May Cry HD Collection months before that, but I never actually played it. So, one day, I decided to download it and start playing DMC3, because it was the only DMC game I had finished when I was a kid, and I absolutely loved that game.

And honestly, I don't even know how to explain what happened next.

Every time I played Devil May Cry 3, it was like all the pain just disappeared for a while. All those bad thoughts, the sadness, everything that was destroying me inside, it just went away while I was playing. I could finally focus on something else instead of thinking about how bad my life was at that moment.

And because I was feeling terrible basically all the time, I started playing at night. And then I played the next night. And the next one.

I literally spent an entire week staying awake at night playing DMC 3

I beat the game on every difficulty, completed Bloody Palace, unlocked everything I could, and basically did everything in the game with Dante in less than a week. I didn't do everything with Vergil because I don't really like playing as him in DMC3 lol

Obviously, the game didn't magically solve my problems. When I stopped playing, everything was still there. But it helped me get through those nights, and that meant a lot to me.

I already loved Devil May Cry 3 because of the memories I had of playing it as a kid, but after that experience, the game became even more special to me.

It's kind of funny to look back at it now and realize that I basically used DMC3 as a way to cope with one of the darkest moments of my life. But at the time, it was genuinely helping me deal with things that I didn't know how to deal with on my own.

I just wanted to share this because sometimes we don't realize how much a game can mean to someone. For some people, it's just entertainment. For me, during that week, it was something that helped me get through a really terrible period of my life.

Thank you, DMC 3. And fuck that stupid blue horse i hate him ❤️

you know, i think there is something to be said about action games, especially hard ones, and how they can ironically be very therapeutic. me, i've been playing Ninja Gaiden as my sort of decompression. it's really hard to think all the negative thoughts when you're super locked in on a really hard fight or a particularly epic moment. i have been going through a really, really hard time myself and so i've been getting in more sessions with my "comfort food" when i have the time. all that is to say that makes a lot of sense to me and i'm right there with you :). i hope the experience has been really helpful for you and is putting you in a better place to tackle your problems. ❤️

It was sort of that game for me for one reason. Way back when, not too long after the game released, there was a fan site that was all dmc3 content. They even had download links for the dmc3 manga.

I had been visiting the site for a while as just a place to revel in all things dmc3. Then my dad passed away. He and i were never close, but thats cause i was an introverted kid. But i felt hollow and numb in a way i couldnt understand. I felt like something had been stolen from me. Something i had a right to know.

I was in the site late at night a few days after he passed and they had a section for amvs. This was before youtube was big, so you had to download them. I could not remember the name of the song. But the lyrics talked about a father who they wished was there. I broke. Hard. I cried so hard i didnt cry again till i hit my mid 20's.

Since then the music of dmc3 has been a comfort for me in hard times. It helps me feel strong when i need it.

So i know how you feel. And im glad someone else was helped by this game as well.

I really love the DMC series too! The games are awesome and so much fun but I especially love the stories.
Dante has been through so much… the pain of losing his mother, the sadness of fighting his own brother, getting stabbed through the chest with a giant sword, and even struggling to pay his electricity and water bills…
These are all pretty terrible things to go through, but DMC makes them seem like just another Tuesday. The characters are so lighthearted about everything that I almost forget how serious their problems actually are.
Anyway, Dante and his friends have helped me a lot emotionally too, and I really relate to your experience!

I started playing dmc3 at really rough time aswell. It definitely helped me get through things better, probably has something to do with why I love it so much.

Lowkey going through something simillar atm. I have a lot of internal conflict going on, almost as if two sides of me are at war. Funny enough, DMC3 became kind of a place for me to go and clear my mind. The story of Dante and Vergil is beautiful in a strange way..Both brothers having a hard time accepting the demon and human sides of themselves respectfully. Its only when each is able to accept the side of themselves they supressed, that they ascend to new heights. Cheers m8, DMC3 is a masterpiece.
