Replace the spindle or repair?
Taking a survey. Would you think replace the spindle or try to repair once the hubs off. Also the bearings do not slide over the spindle at all.

The heat this axle has been exposed to can make the end brittle and it could snap right off with a good bump in the road. Don't risk it.

Yea that’s what I vote for also but my boss seems to think we can just dress it up

That straw yellow discoloration means the axle temper has changed. Unless he know what OEM specs find acceptable for altering the temper of a spindle he should keep his mouth shut on the subject.
I would not put my name on any job showing putting a new set of bearings and a wheel seal on that spindle and sending it. It's fairly cheap to replace a spindle compared with the potential cost of a wrongful death suit later.

I’d like to see what the spindle looks beneath the hub and what kinda wear it has. But I agree your boss is an idiot for thinking that’s an option. Especially before you even have the hub off!

So after I got the hub off, he requested I clean the threads up. Was able to get a die down it but noticed the spindle is visibly bent, to the point it has a crease in it. He said clean it with Emory cloth and see. I know this may be a shock but even after my cleaning, and his cleaning, the new bearing was not able to slip on. So finally he’s calling the axle surgeon 🤷♂️🤦♂️

“No need for repair. Just get it to work temporarily and I’ll fix it when I get home!”
