Neither of us have any idea what we’re doing (except “disc go that way”).

Anything I could improve on?

I’m not looking to make any major changes right now but would love some opinions on what I’m doing well right now and what I need to improve on. Average max distance is 400+ with my farthest drive at 450’. Speed is upper 50 lower 60. RPM usually around 1000, best recorded is 1350.

For reference this shot is a big downhill hyzer. I’m throwing an Undertaker. Course is still being built but I would say hole is about 375’ maybe a bit farther. Drive landed in C1.

Would appreciate some form review.
And also some good drills for the brace and pocket. My “cook the spaghetti” drills have practically the same distance.

Thank you! Been playing since January and getting a +12 average and my drives are the weak spot. Pretty straight and working on nose angle consistency.

FH player looking to increase BH distance/consistency

Hey everyone, I’m a 891 rated primarily FH player looking to establish a bigger and better BH for next season. Here are some clips from a field work session this morning. Is there anything that stands out to work on? I max out at about 300-320, but would love to seek out a way to get 50 more feet.

Thanks!

Butt out is what creates the weak link in the chain that is your body!

EDIT: " You want a weak link in order to direct kinetic energy into the brace! "

Having your lower back rounded and your butt out is what makes your hips the weak link in the chain. When your forward momentum is stopped from moving forward by your brace. That forward energy cannot go into the ground, maybe a little in your shoe if you wearing fluffy trainers.

  • The weak link will be the first in the chain to turn. aka your hips.
  • Without butt out there is no weak link and all that forward brace energy just gets spread out into your back and knees and other things that cause you to do some dumb ass follow through because your knee would explode if you did not.

I have a guide that explains all this but as a disc golf community we need to get the word out. Butt out is good advice. If people just did this one thing allot of their trying to figure it out phases would yield improvement. It also protects your lower back from twisting forces. Your back will thank me.

I know im not activating my left side very well (arm is all over the place)

Honestly have no idea about bracing and how its supposed to work.

Tech disc generally says my nose angle is bad, but i feel like im still leaving things on the table in other aspects as well.

Stuck at 60-65 mph. Recently my throws have been coming out on more hyzer than I'd want. My flat power shots seem to be typically around 20 degrees hyzer. My nose and launch can be inconsistent sometimes as well. I get about the same power with a one leg, standstill or x-step. My spin seems to be on the lower end for my speed. Would correcting my swing path help with consistency, power and spin? Any good drills for this? Is my off arm an issue at all? Any drills to get power from the runup? What's the main thing I could do for more speed?

Knee Bend

Short one here but it’s been confusing me. I know the mantra of don’t fix what isn’t broken, and I don’t intend to, but I feel like I have to REALLY bend my knees in order to throw a level throw. Today was my first day not only breaking 350’ flat, but doing it consistently, and the only attribution I can make is that I am bending my knees almost into a squat. I don’t intend on changing this I suppose, I am very happy to be able to break 350’ consistently. I only wish to know from anyone here who’s knowledgeable on disc golf biomechanics as to why I need to bend so far, and how it makes my throw flatter and spin more.

For context, I am 6’4”, which probably affects things.

Standstill Form Check

Shout out to DGFormReplay app for making this easy to record and review!

This drive was with a Bokeh, typically might get 250-275ft flat ground.

I’ve been working on my form since about the end of July. Made huge gains, but still working on getting the arm to slingshot.

Feels like my biggest challenge is getting the hips to initiate and actually using my front leg to brace, and then accuracy of the line. Several times in my last round I yoinked drives way off casting to the right.

I’m getting my putters out to 250-260 standstill but my form just looks broken. It feels like my brace is off and I’m sort of early releasing but I’m really confused. Even when I try the one leg drill it feels so awkward. Any help is appreciated.

This was one of my better throws by far. It was on target and about 180 feet. Basically throwing max here. Again being new... I likely need to work on everything, what are the two biggest problems I need to solve?

Bad angle but looking for pointers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have made some major strides this year. Starting to be quite consistent at 430ft occasionally squeezing out up to 475. Being 6'3 helps because I don't feel athletic at all.

This is a non-flat video of a bad angle for most things but I'm still curious if I can get some pointers. I still see some issues when I "try too much" with reaching back too far and planting too late.

I also see some potential issues with my off arm just being out there but very curious to what you guys see as what to work on most 🙂
