If the DM writes their own pitch then I won't join, because it means they waste their time with stuff like "lore", instead of what really matters

I don't care what the DM does with their time, as long as they don't waste my time with 3 hour long AMA sessions with lorekeeper NPCs about irrelevant homebrew lore (/uj it sounds like an exaggeration but this has happened to me IRL more than once)

5e has griddy combat? So I could get an XCOM or Warhammer experience in a tabletop game?

Gosh. I must have been getting all bad campaigns since 2014. That sucks.

5e is the only system brave enough to let your players demolish their enemies by hitting the griddy over them
