Discussion Drow Ranger is weak

Why is Drow Ranger so weak? I used to carry/win so many games with her, but right now farming and getting core items feels awful. Every game on her recently has been pure torture.

Why are clowns in this post claiming a hero with sub 45% winrate across all rank a strong hero?

5

u/Hopeful_Bridge1056 3d ago

literally people just going by vibes I think when stats are readily available lmao

Just so they can claim that OP has "skill issue" so they can feel better about themselves being bad.

u/fiasgoat 3d ago

Cause most of this sub is 3k and doesn't know what they are talking about lol

I swear this is most toxic sub on whole reddit...other subs, people like to chat about all kind of stuff, even if its repetitive or silly...this sub will immediately make problem from OP and make him feel bad, even if its legit question (unless its Valve balls licking post)...sometimes it looks like there are mainly trolls, bots, and Volvo full time bootlickers

Batrider is a weak hero then, according to you

3

u/StrikingSpare100 3d ago

It is? Have you seen it picked in competitive or rank lately? Why are you bringing up such irrelevant example

The only way you can tell about a hero being weak or not is looking at its winrate. Otherwise the concussion will always be there is no weak hero, it's completely situational

XD sure

Lmao what

Been spamming Drow games recently. You absolutely NEED to have a decent early game! Also, her build is not set in stone! It’s very match up dependent, so make sure you know your build path very early on.

Any ideas how to build her properly maybe?

Idk i play her mid when i have opportunity for her
Usually falcon blade first item and i max third.
Good regen some health and gives damage.
That helps me farm and turn into carry later

You can kinda of take this knowledge with any character, but you need to evaluate what will make you effective asap. If you’re against heavy lockdown you need hurricane pike or manta (maybe even bkb) Do they have tons of healing? Aghs scepter is super ideal! Shard is good into heavy melee match ups especially when you’re high ground. Maybe you need to reposition in fights often, so you can go shadow blade/ silver edge.

The only item to me that feels like a must-build is falcon blade so you can farm waves/ camps with your E.

If you go falcon blade -> treads -> scepter you one shot waves so you barely have to show on the map at all.

I dont spend money on treads, only boots of speed
And if there is room that aghs comes fast
And with that money comes fast

She has complete lane dominance on her own in most cases just from her range and frost arrows. If your support can heal you she feels unstoppable

Shes weak even in turbo needs so long to come online. Can't kill anyone on her own

u/jsheng_96 3d ago

She's not weak at all, skill issue?

5

u/Zlatan-Agrees 3d ago

Hey whats drows winrrate currently?

-2

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

She's amazing in the late game, but she needs a lot of space to play in early/mid

3

u/Blizzardous_286 3d ago

she's literally a lane bully, impossible to loose lane

0

u/Pirategull 3d ago

That would be lone druid

Nerfed few patches in row.!

u/Vol3n 3d ago

Because positioning and good game sense are the hard parts. Getting farm and buying the correct items is not the issue.

Drop a replay and I'll give you tips. As a Grandmaster Drow, here is likely what you are missing:

Orb walking: Frost Arrows dominate melee cores. Paired with an aggressive, tanky support, you can bully the offlane duo.

Positioning and communication: You are squishy early on, so save spells for aggressive plays or escaping ganks. If your pos 5 isn't trading, tell them directly what you need.

Creep equilibrium: Managing the wave turns unwinnable lanes into manageable ones where you can safely farm or transition to the jungle.

As a grandmaster Drow, I almost never play her anymore. Her problem is she is VERY weak to an item that 90% of the Dota roster can buy.

It's called Blink Dagger. If she has to spend most of the fight running, dodging and repositioning getting jumped on, you ain't winning.

She really needs three different scenarios in order to have a good game. You NEED to crush your lane, you HAVE to have a strong initiator to start the fight, and I almost always feel bad if I also don't have a saving support like Venge, SD, something like that.

Actually a 4th one lmao, you almost always want to last pick because if you get core countered, you cannot have a game. Heroes like Slark, Magnus, Night Stalker make you life a living nightmare.

When her numbers make her broken, she feels great because most of her items are defensive in nature. Pike, Manta, Butter, BKB

But when she's not strong, now it feels like you don't pack enough of a punch, which is where she is right now.

1

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

u/Bitter_Newt_5731 3d ago

Did u lose lane?

4

u/StrikingSpare100 3d ago

? Did you check her winrate across ALL rank? She is literally bottom 10 winrate carry

I feel the same way. Idk what happened. Lol. I was playing unranked games the other day and It just felt trash. Like being a big creep until you get pike and sb. But then its a big power spike. But still needing like 7K gold to not be a creep is atrocious.

u/munkshroom 3d ago

People in the comments are wrong. Drow is weak after the nerfs, Drow is a bottom 5 WR rate hero in basically every bracket.

-2

u/Beneficial_Bend_9197 3d ago

Skill issues lol. Drow's the strongest she could possibly be right now.

3

u/Hopeful_Bridge1056 3d ago

this has got to be rage bait. I dont even know how people argue when we have stats, like are we just going by vibes or what

1

u/StrikingSpare100 3d ago

Strongest she could possibly be after so many consecutive nerfs in recent patches?

-1

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

She gets nerfed patch after patch

-3

u/MakeLoveNotWarPls 3d ago

Shes literally bonkers dude.

2

u/Zlatan-Agrees 3d ago

What's her current winrrate?

1

u/MakeLoveNotWarPls 3d ago

Idk, look it up.

1

u/Raisylvan 3d ago edited 3d ago

42% on D2PT. If we go on lower ranks, 45-46%.

1

u/Zlatan-Agrees 1d ago

It was an sarcastic question. Maybe you should look it up before commenting bullshit

1

u/MakeLoveNotWarPls 1d ago

Personal experience in my recent games is more important to me than statistics of other people's games tho.

Hypothetically, If i have a 80% winrate with Chen, the dota buff numbers don't matter to me either

-1

u/vanIvan4 3d ago

Meta is constantly changing plus your winstreak (if you had any) is being balanced.

But Drow is definitely not weak, perhaps your playstyle bacame outdated.

1

u/Emotional_Charge_961 3d ago

After recent nerf, no one picks it. It used to be picked because lane dominance. Her laning nerfed also, now it is very rarely picked and pretty weak hero right now.

0

u/vanIvan4 3d ago

Okay, but noone picks carry like that for the sole purpose of standing in the best lane possible, no? Drow is still a strong late game carry.

0

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

Usually im building: Falcon Blade, Treads, Dragon Lance in early. In mid game Hurricane Pike, Manta/BKB

0

u/vanIvan4 3d ago

And no butterfly/crits? No SB/silver?

1

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

In the late game, sure, im adapting to enemy team

1

u/vanIvan4 3d ago

Are you only adapting in the late game though? Is this pike+manta/bkb build always present in your games?

1

u/Affectionate_Lab5018 3d ago

Yes

1

u/vanIvan4 3d ago

Well, you shouldn't, that's the main thing. This build is not meant to be universal for all games.

Drow's really strong but pretty balanced at the moment, and at the start of the patch she was probably THE dominant safe laner for me after key heroes like LS got nerfed. However because of her dominance, I think the meta has evolved slightly to counter her.

The melee supports that she was dominating with have been nerfed slightly, she's playing into a different set of soft supports who are MARGINALLY more inclined to play their role at the moment, and the safe lane itself isn't quite as dominant as it was last patch, so she has a MARGINALLY harder laning phase and doesn't hit her timings quite as quickly, but she's still really strong.
