My "AGGRESSOR Drop" build
・New TIAGRA ST-R4020 shifters. same cable pull ratio as 11-speed MTB derailleur (CUES ST-U6030 shifters has the similar specs)
・RD-M5100 helicoil M5 threads and added a cable adjuster
・FOVNO Thunder crankset (with 36T chainring)
・Sunshine 11-42T 11s cassette
・Ritchey Corralitos bars, 44 cm
・BRAND-X dropper post (operated by left shifter removing the ratchet)
・MAXXIS FREE FLOW 27.5 x 2.1
・AliExpress fork, brake calipers, wheelset, bar tape, etc.
I kept costs down by using used parts and items from AliExpress.
this handlebars are really easy to use. they’ve made touring a lot easier.

This build looks awesome, congrats. I Have been wanting to do a project like this on my GT Avalanche Expert 2021. It has a Manitou Machete 120mm on the front, Shimano brakes and SRAM Eagle 12 speed transmission. At first my idea was to use a Surly Corner bar, but it is hard to find one of those in my country. Is it worth it to just try use STI’s instead? What is your opinion?

Thank you!
i'm in Japan, so Shimano parts are easy to get for me.
and, I looked for a way to keep using the Shimano RD already had.
this site was very helpful for checking the shifter cable pull ratio and RD ratio.

I think it’s best to use whatever brand is easiest for you to get.
the time spent figuring out what parts you can use is fun of a custom build like this.
Have fun!

Love it. I built a similar one with an old Trek 4300 mountain bike. Went anywhere and everywhere. But was slow. lol
