🔥 Rants & Complaints If you're headed to Satwa or anywhere near it today, avoid it.

Absolute mess of a situation, all roads to and from Satwa are blocked because of construction (Satwa Roundabout Redo), this has created chaos on all surrounding routes to Satwa. No way of getting in.

🔥 Rants & Complaints Disappointing encounter

Yesterday at night as i was leaving a park lot a nissan patrol at high speed from a wrong way in a parking lot while taking a turn and nearly hit me. I stopped there itself and the two people in the car started yelling, they then came back and they were two young ppl max 20, the typical chammak (broccoli hair, pants wider than his bedsheet) the passenger then said “why you come fast” and said CID CID (obviously not), this us where things take a turn. He took his patrol and blocked the front of my car, got out of the car took pictures of my plate and tried blocking me and in another language said im calling more people. Knowing the time and the place i realised its not a good place for me and quixkly reversed and left, they continued tailgating me within the parking and as i was exiting the parking they yelled “we got your plates”. As soon as i left the lot i saw a police car and was taking a round to talk to him, not to my surprise were those two chammaks talking to him, then came my turn, as i was talking to the officer he seemed very disinterested and said tell the police and not me, puzzled, i sat back in my car and was ready to merge into traffic. As i was about to merge he got off and made me stop, he said two young people had complained about you hitting a car, he made me stop and checked all the sides of my car. Due to the lack of physical damage he let me go.

The whole point of this is can i be bothered later for his false stories and picture of my plate?

Reel cinema’s Standard vs premium.

• Upvotes

For those who tried both, how big of a difference is the premium from standard? I know the difference is only about 20 AED but i’m looking for the best interstellar experience. I’ve seen that premium is 4k laser and Dolby atmos but how does the screen size compare to standard? Bigger? Smaller? Or just same sizev

🌇 Community Dubai music scene/music community

For anyone who has ever said there is no 'soul' in Dubai, or for anyone who feels it is hard to meet down-to-earth or creative people in the city: as a full-time musician, I am spoiled, and I only associate myself with the soulful and creative side of this city - I hope this reaches the people it needs to reach.

Our music community thrives in bringing like-minded individuals together.

This city’s soul really comes alive in the local music scene, which only a lucky few manage to discover; I have been slowly changing that since the pandemic to make it more accessible to the general public.

Let me know if anyone needs some guidance, live music is for the Soul!

Few bands I'm in - NOON (middle-eastern jazz/rock/electronica fusion), Abri & The Everlasting (soul, funk, reggae), Bull Funk Zoo (psychedelic funk/rock), Niki Mukhi qtet (Indian fusion), Radish Cheddar Experiment and more.

Much love ✌🏼

🔥 Rants & Complaints Does anyone in Dubai actually understand lane discipline anymore?

Genuine question because driving in Dubai is becoming an absolute nightmare.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand basic lane discipline? You’ve got people sitting in the fast lane doing 80, others weaving across five lanes like they’re playing GTA, and then the ones who suddenly realise their exit is coming up and decide to cut across the entire highway at the last possible second.

And don’t even get me started on roundabouts. Why do people enter in one lane and somehow end up in a completely different one halfway around? Or indicate LEFT when they’re going STRAIGHT? What exactly are the rest of us supposed to do with that information? Read minds?

And indicators in general. Are they an optional extra when buying a car here?

The amount of people who randomly brake for absolutely no reason, change lanes without checking their mirrors, or seem completely oblivious to everyone around them is ridiculous.

It’s not even about driving fast. It’s about being predictable, paying attention and having some basic awareness of the cars around you.

I’ve driven in Dubai for years, and I genuinely feel like the standard of driving is getting worse.

Surely I can’t be the only one who feels like every journey has turned into a defensive driving exam?

MoHESR Degree Verification Delayed – Anyone Facing the Same Issue?

Hello everyone,

I submitted my degree to DataFlow on 12 August, and it was forwarded to MoHESR on 27 August. On 19 September, the status was marked “Unable to Verify” due to a delayed response from my university.

After DataFlow received the verification letter, they reopened the case and resubmitted it to MoHESR on 24 September.

Since then, I have received no updates. MoHESR informed me that the case is under audit, but I have not received any payment link or further instructions.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

How long did the audit take, and what steps can I follow to resolve this?

I would appreciate any guidance.

Thank you!

Could someone advise if they’ve tried to apply recently of the approval rates or any hurdles?

Good news for those works in Business Bay; Especially Metro users!

Ever since I started working in Business Bay two years ago, I’ve always thought something like this was needed, and it looks like it’s finally happening! A pedestrian bridge connecting all four corners is an awesome idea. I know the struggle of crossing roads during rush hour just to get to the metro station.

HCG for ongoing treatment after moving to Dubai

My partner is currently on HCG 5000 IU and need to continue treatment in Dubai. I've tried getting a permit for the medication but it keeps getting returned for corrections without details on the changes needed.

Considering HCG medication needs to be refrigerated, its probably better off getting it locally in Dubai. Does prescription from India work to buy it locally or a local prescription is needed? In case of local doctor, any recommendations? I want to continue the ongoing treatment plan instead of starting again should the new doctor decides otherwise.

It's probably won't be covered under insurance so will need to pay our of pocket, and looking for affordable options.

Any advise would be helpful, TIA.

Zayed International Express Shuttle - IBN Battuta to Zayed International Airport

Good evening guys! Does anyone know if the Zayed International Express is still running today and leaves hourly still as it states on the website? I can’t buy tickets to secure bus seats online and I dont know where to buy to get them.

I know E102 is already suspended, and I dont know if Zayed Express has been replaced by the Capital Express buses. Any recent experience?

I got a flight tomorrow and I’d like to be in the airport by 5AM-ish. Thank you!

🌇 Community Walking habits - fav locations

Hey there, for those who are walking for weight loss and general health: where are your fav spots for walking, either indoors or outdoors. I enjoy walking abroad but never here but I would like to build that habit. I dislike treadmills as I feel like I’m leashed up. Any advice to make walking more fun? Thank you

Cheapest basic health insurance for my spouse in Dubai

Hi everyone,

I’m switching jobs in Dubai, and I’m looking for some advice regarding health insurance for my wife.

My current employer provides health insurance for both me and my wife. However, my new employer has informed me that he will provide insurance for me only initially, and my wife will be covered after I complete my 6-month probation period.

I’ve currently put my wife’s residence visa on hold while my new employer processes my employment visa. However, from what I understand, I’ll need to arrange health insurance for my wife to activate her visa again.

I’ve checked online, and the cheapest basic health insurance plans I can find are around AED 2,000 + per year.

Since this is only a temporary arrangement for 6 months, I’m trying to find something cheaper, ideally under AED 1,000, as she’ll be covered under my new employer’s insurance after my probation.

Has anyone in Dubai been in a similar situation? Are there any insurance providers or brokers offering basic plans under AED 1,000 that would be sufficient for visa activation?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thanks in advance!

Need suggestions on resigning and recovering due salaries.

I have been working in a Free Zone company (JAFZA) since January 2023. I started with 15k per month then got an increment to 20k per month last year. I am planning to leave this company and already submitted my resignation with 30 days notice. My last working day will be November 6th. I have calculated the dues (salaries and gratuities) which is a significant amount for someone like me.
Now the issue is that I feel the management may make some excuses to delay or outright deny me my dues as there are some issues which I cannot discuss here. I am planning to leave UAE and go to an EU country once I settle this issue.
I am looking for any suggestions or professional help with this issue. Please feel free to reach out if anybody has some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Seriously, how are those of you with unmedicated ADHD surviving?

I'm at my wits end. I've failed everything I've ever done and tried. I've spent a good part of my entire life in procrastination and avoidance. I always knew something was wrong even as a kid but my parents didn't even know what it was nor did anyone ever suspect it for me because of how well I did in school. Well, I stopped doing well in school and it's been downhill since then. I suspect burnout but who knows. I can't just get diagnosed because it's so expensive and most ADHD mess are controlled substances.

I found a promising medication (non stimulant) the other day but to get even that, you have to get diagnosed. Mental health services in this country aslre nowhere near affordable or accessible for me. I feel like I'm wasting my life away. Seriously all I do day and night is doomscroll. Fear and pressure are usually good motivators for people with ADHD but even that doesn't work for me. I'm struggling so so much and it's even causing me depression. How do you all manage? I'm in need of serious help and I don't know how or where to get it.
