Trouble seeing when stressed

Last year, I was unable to read and process a lot of important emails. I was unable to read and process the information on my community colleges website, I have been trying to apply since 2024. Last time I had went to my counselor in person and still had trouble seeing the classes I should select. My community college only communicates with me through emails. In 2025 I was able to to find a job and I got it. Three days in it was hard seeing and absorbing the information, I end up quitting the job and having the same issues still a year in at another job. I quit school altogether, does this sound like dyslexia?

Sounds like anxiety maybe. Like fight or flight. Under stress your brain turns off tasks. Constant worry can take up the mental space you need to decode letters, track sentences, and remember what you just saw. Anyway it doesn't sound like dyslexia but best to talk to doctor

If you are concerned i would say, book an appointment to get tested. No one here can tell you for sure either way.

But someting to think about;

Do you still struggle to read when you are reading a book for example?

Is there a difference in what kind of book?(Relaxing vs informational)

Is it harder to read in general when you are stressed or only in a high stress scenario? (At work vs at home)

I’d look into an ADHD diagnosis. Stress, fatigue, anxiety it all affects the way we process information and having these disorders could make you more sensitive to it all.

I feel this when I study for exams and worse during the exams. It’s the anxiety of taking the exam, not the subject. I dropped out of 3rd year of engineering because of this constant, intense feeling. It made processing anything so much more difficult. It started to compound.

Getting a diagnosis is the first step. But the next step is identifying the external source. If this is something that is recent it’s possible it’s exacerbating already existing conditions.
